cheap but good!

The ONLY complaint I could have about this pressure cooker is that I wish it came in a 6 qt size rather than 5 qt. Beyond that, it is streamlined in terms of function (EASY TO USE!!!!!!!) and produces beautiful soups, meats and desserts. I had previously owned a heavier stainless steel model and now much prefer this aluminum model-MUCH lighter, and very even heating throughout. A dream machine, especially at the price. I use it almost every day. And it comes with 3 great recipes on the box. Instructions are clear and precise. You can't go wrong with this model. Enjoy and have fun!

leaching of aluminum

I believe ALUMINUM is LEACHING. I am a chemistry professional myself, and I know Aluminum could be dissolved in both acid and base. It's said that anodized Aluminum could prevent leaching. However, after I tested the pressure cooker myself, I think the Aluminum is still leaching. I added half a bowl of water and heated it to boil for 10 minutes. After cooling off, I opened it up to find lots of white precipitate on the bottom and the inside wall is pitted and pock-marked. At first I thought it's just some packing material. But I saw white precipitate the next 3 times I tested the cooker. I am going to return it because exposure to Aluminum for a large amount (or over a long period) is going to cause healthy issues.

overall ,it is good for its price.

It makes cooking easier and don't have any big problem. The only thing I want to say is its material. it is made of aluminum, making it easy to change dark after use.

Liquid bursts out after some time

After a few months of using it the problem started. After cooking vegetables or grains and turning of the stove the pressurized liquid bursts out of the cooker!! There seems to be some problem with the sealing ring/gasket. This spare gasket part is not available to buy either. The whole cooker is a waste now!!

Basic Essentials 5 qt. Aluminum Pressure Cooker

This has been a very good cooker especially for the money. I have had it for at least 3 years and use it 1-3 times a week. This is the most inexpensive one that I have had, my others have either leaked or either it was time for a new gasket before 3 years.

Don't waste your money and time for this one.

I bought this cooker last black friday for $10 after rebate. Steam leak out after only one month. It was a scary moment. My familly used to cooking with high pressure cooker since I was little so I know how to use a pressure cooker and what to expect from a good pressure cooker.

I can't even return it to the store since I've already mailed the bar code for rebate.

I am so glad I bought this pressure cooker, we just love it! It is so easy to use, safe and time-saving. My boyfriend thinks I'm the best cook ever. And it was on sale...what a bargain! I don't know why I wated so long to get it. I highly recommend it to everyone who wants a delicious meal in less time than ever. Also, I ordered online for pick-up at the store and that was a smooth process, they brought it right out to me.
