this craftsman 1/4in sheet sander is very well built in quality and it has been very durable this sander has many features for its price i have owned my craftsman sander for about 1 1/2 yrs this sander is very durable and reliable it gets used on average about 6 days a week and the dust collection system works flawless on this sander i highly recommend this craftsman 1/4in sheet sander
I bought this to sand some patio furniture. The problem is the clips that hold the sandpaper in place are no good. The sand paper either keeps moving to the right or comes out of the clips altogether. The engineering is certainly not up to standards I have come to expect from Craftsman. The only way I was finally able to solve the problem is to put some masking tape on the edge of the sandpaper to keep it in place. On the plus side. The handle is very comfortable to hold and use. That is why I gave it one star.
I purchased this one and the corners started wearing faster than usual. Overall not bad.
I bought this for a project ,but my mother ended up using it and didn't want to give it back.
this is he worst sander, i've ever bought, I don't use it too often, the paper keep running of the pad all the time, I love my makita
I had this sander for about 3 years only using it 3 or 4 times. Today while sanding a small board the unit literally blew up in my hand! I wasn't hurt but chunks of the motor were falling out of the bottom. Of course when I called the store I bought it from said that it only has a year warranty against defects. So I get a new Porter Cable sander now!
Exactly what we need for a small job in the house.
It works well and is easy to use. Not too hard to handle for even small areas!
1/4 Sheet Pad Sander by sears perfect size and price
I paid $29.99 for a new piece and I received one in a completely distressed box with tape all around it and a small tag on the corner with price $12.99 written on it. Obviously, Sears sent me piece that was either a return or a refurbished which must have been kept in the store for clearance at $12.99. I have experienced this several times with Sears in the past. I will not be buying from Sears any more.
Was very satisfied with the product I received. Worked great!
Well worth the money!
This is a nice basic sander. Can handle any type of sand paper you want to put on it - no real bells or whistles, but will get the good down for whatever you are working on.
When I received this item, I found it loose in the box with no packing slip. Surprised, I went online to check if maybe I had unknowingly purchased a refurbished item.
Sadly no, but for some reason Sears decided to ship me a 'new' item that has obvious signs of use, no box, and none of the accessories pictured in the listing.
I immediate called their customer service line (which opened at least 20 minutes later than advertised on the site) and spoke with an agent.
Rather than delay my weekend project since Sears was unwilling to preemptively ship me a replacement item, I had to go to the store myself and explain why I was trying to return an item without a box and accessories.
If I have this kind of experience ever again, I'm done with Sears, however much I like the craftsman brand.
works well and easy to use
bag collects most of the dust
This little sander is just fine for the typical jobs I use it for, which is usually sanding off old paint for a small furniture refinishing job or something similar. I like being able to use regular sandpaper, which I always have on hand, versus having to buy special sanding disks. I can't see that the dust catcher really works, but for the price of this, it doesn't really bother me.
I can use any cheap sand paper with sander. Makes it very affordable.
Very comfortable to hold and operate. Very easy to change sanding sheets. Does a great job at sanding projects and doing home repair work. The dust collection seems to work pretty decent when you use the attachment that pokes the dust port holes in the correct spots with no mess and no fuss. My only negative that I have seen when using this sander is the pads seem to vibrate loose sometimes and causes the sanding sheets to wear on the ends prematurely. This doesn't happen on every sheet that I have used, but have noticed it a few times. Other than that one issue, I am happy with my sander and cant complain too much for the price....
this sander is just the right size for small projects; the dust collect really came in handy when I was sanding a bathroom cabinet indoors, reducing clean up time. The pads are easy to change out and stay in place well. I would recommend this sander for its value and cost.
