Very lightweight for a high wheel mower

I had the same problem dsohio had. Brought mower home, set it up, mowed for about 15-20 minutes. Stopped to remove some fallen branches and tried to restart the mower. No luck. Walked around to the front and noticed gas streaming from the carburetor. It kept dripping until the tank was empty. Took it back and got another (same model). This time, the results were better. My previous Craftsman mower lasted 10 years. This mower is surprisingly light; it's almost like pushing a toy. My old Craftsman was MUCH heavier by comparison. Given the number of slopes and tree roots I mow around, that should be an advantage. It's also quieter than my old mower. Height adjustment is quick and easy and a tank of gas lasts longer. Easy to start and does a good job cutting. Except for the apparent quality control problem in manufacturing/assembly, this seems to be a reasonably good buy. Now I'll see if THIS one lasts 10 years.

Craftsman High Wheel Side Discharge Push Mower

I chose this mower for fuel economy. Very tempted by Husqvarna 6021P, but the reviews were all over the board. So I went to the local Sears and picked this one. Just finished my first mowing. One hour, or two miles. Still had gas left. This would take 2 tanks of gas in my old B&S push mower. For $200 class, I rate as 5 stars. Update-5/3/12: Just finished my second mowing. When I went to refill the tank, gas began dripping out the bottom of the carburetor and ran all over the deck. It would not start. It did this two times (it finally started after 40 minutes of rest) I will exchange it for another of the same model and hope I just had bad luck.

Easy to use;easy to start

I was pleased that it was ready to use right out of the box; just an adjustment of the handle. I have never owned a mower that started as easily as this one; I hope that special feature and convenience continues through the life of the machine. The large rear wheels makes it easier to tilt the mower back to make the turns at the corners of the yard. The Briggs & Stratton engine has been my favorite since my first experience with a power in my early teens 60 years ago.

Lawn Mower

I purchased this lawn mower online, and it was ready for me to pick up in less than 1 hour. When I got the mower, it was easy to assemble with just a few simple tools it and it does a great job mowing the lawn. It is a simple lawnmower to operate, and that is all that I need. I like to buy name brand items so that I can easily get parts if I need them. Thank you for the ease of the purchase and pickup time. When I went to the store, all I had to do was show my receipt and the pickup was just as quick. I will definitely do more purchasing online to save time and the hassle of searching for what I want in the stores.

First Craftsman Mower Purchase

I have only used this mower three times since purchasing it two weeks ago, and it has performed very well so far. It requires no priming or choking, and it is very easy to adjust the cutting height. I will need to use it for a few months in order to provide a more detailed review.

Best mower ever

This mower is just fantastic. It only took two pulls to start on the very first time. No priming. The next time I used it, it started on first pull. This mower has the easiest height adjustment, that I have ever used. I would recommend this mower to anyone.

Lawn Mower

So far, we are very happy with our new lawn mower. It starts right up with barely 1 pull of the string which is great.

Missing Parts

Bought this motor because it seemed like a good deal. Free delivery is nice. The mower shows up, the box is barely taped and looks beat up. I take the mower out and one part was wedged in between the box lids, lucky it didn't fall out. The carriage bolts for the handle are missing. I realize I can get new ones but I don't feel I should need to buy parts to put my "new" lawnmower together. Very disappointed in their shipping abilities.

Little workhorse

MY old push mower died, and I wanted something relatively inexpensive but with some power and ability to cut through 4 inch grass if I missed a week or two.
So far, this 140 power, big wheeled baby has done the trick.
I especially like that in about 2 seconds one can change from mulch to side discharge mode. (4 inch grass is a little much for the mulcher, so I use the side discharge when it gets long)
A good purchase at a good price. I got it on sale for $193

Rough Terrain mowing

The large rear wheels allow the mower to pass right over mole holes and uneven ground without dropping down to scalp the ground. The light weight of the powerful engine allows hours of painless mowing. The easy start of the engine makes the day enjoyable.

great buy

Right out of the box this mower has done the job. It starts first pull and has plenty of power for my small yard. The mower is pretty light and easy to move through tight areas. Also the mulching feature is great.

Lil Red Beauty - what a fantastic mower!

After our ancient push mower was just not 'cutting it' anymore, we decided to splurge on a new one. Just wanted a simple, dependable, bagless push mower - nothing too fancy or over our tight budget. Based on the Craftsman name and the other positive reviews, we decided on the High-Wheel design on sale. This lil red beauty arrived in only 3 days, thanks to Sear's superfast free home shipping! We had it out of the box & running in a few minutes. The first thing I noticed was the supereasy pull-start, that for once didn't break my arm like our last one. It was smooth, easy to pull and fired up the first time....ahhh luxury already. And away we went, I was impressed how lightweight it was and easy to maneuver. Our last mower would miss some of the long dandelions or grass here & there, but this Craftsman gave a clean, smooth cut across the yard. It offered tight edging that was perfect for going up to my flower beds, and easy to adjust mower levels as well. I decided to put it to the test of making a trail through our overgrown back field that our last mower constantly stalled & could never do the job. But lil red powered through the long grass, ferns & weeds with power and no stalling. So impressed!! Our land is flat for the most part, but covers a lot of ground. And I was able to do nearly all of it in just one tank of gas! The efficiency of this new Craftsman was amazing, as my previous mower used to take atleast 2-3 fill-ups to do the same amount of space. We've used it many times this summer and still just as in love with it as the first day. It fires up the first pull EVERY TIME. And the 'vibration' level is very low too, which is nice to have my hands still feel normal when I'm finished mowing, instead of all shaky afterwards. I'm a 5'3 small-build mom and I have no problem getting this fantastic lil mower around. Love it.

Mower Runs Great, Not Happy With Condition of Delivery

The mower started right up on the very first pull. Unfortunately, that was after about 40 minutes of trying to get it put together.

First, the predrilled holes in the handle didn't line up. So, after about 15 minutes of trying to get it to work, I took the handle apart, got the t-bolts into the finally lined up holes, then put the handle back together.

Then, there is a bolt and a "****" you put in the mid-handle to adjust it. However, one of the bolts was missing. There was a hole in the box and it must have fell out. I had to run to the hardware store and buy a new one for 25 cents. Not much, but it was the time and the whole idea of having to buy a part for a brand new mower.

Like I said, the mower started right up on the first pull and it ran great during the first mow. Obviously, the packer couldn't get the t-bolts in either since the holes didn't line up so he or she simply threw all the parts in the box and I ended up losing one through the delivery.

Better than expected

I've had mine for two months now and no problems at all. Came fully assembled in box, which fit in the back seat of my Ford Fusion. Sears rep loaded it in my car for me - props there! Oil, gas, pull and on my way. I exclusively mulch and this has handled fairly tall grass with ease. The height adjustment is a snap and contrary to other reviews I do not foresee problems with the new take Crafstman introduced on this. The wheel height arm has a protruding prong that locks into holes/notches on the frame. Doesn't seem like something that can't be fixed down the road to me if you are semi-confident with tools. The mower is light as can be and the rear wheels make for easy turns. I actually mow faster now than I did with my prior mower with front wheel drive. Get it, you won't be disappointed!
