Very lightweight for a high wheel mower

I had the same problem dsohio had. Brought mower home, set it up, mowed for about 15-20 minutes. Stopped to remove some fallen branches and tried to restart the mower. No luck. Walked around to the front and noticed gas streaming from the carburetor. It kept dripping until the tank was empty. Took it back and got another (same model). This time, the results were better. My previous Craftsman mower lasted 10 years. This mower is surprisingly light; it's almost like pushing a toy. My old Craftsman was MUCH heavier by comparison. Given the number of slopes and tree roots I mow around, that should be an advantage. It's also quieter than my old mower. Height adjustment is quick and easy and a tank of gas lasts longer. Easy to start and does a good job cutting. Except for the apparent quality control problem in manufacturing/assembly, this seems to be a reasonably good buy. Now I'll see if THIS one lasts 10 years.

Craftsman High Wheel Side Discharge Push Mower

I chose this mower for fuel economy. Very tempted by Husqvarna 6021P, but the reviews were all over the board. So I went to the local Sears and picked this one. Just finished my first mowing. One hour, or two miles. Still had gas left. This would take 2 tanks of gas in my old B&S push mower. For $200 class, I rate as 5 stars. Update-5/3/12: Just finished my second mowing. When I went to refill the tank, gas began dripping out the bottom of the carburetor and ran all over the deck. It would not start. It did this two times (it finally started after 40 minutes of rest) I will exchange it for another of the same model and hope I just had bad luck.

great buy

Right out of the box this mower has done the job. It starts first pull and has plenty of power for my small yard. The mower is pretty light and easy to move through tight areas. Also the mulching feature is great.

Lil Red Beauty - what a fantastic mower!

After our ancient push mower was just not 'cutting it' anymore, we decided to splurge on a new one. Just wanted a simple, dependable, bagless push mower - nothing too fancy or over our tight budget. Based on the Craftsman name and the other positive reviews, we decided on the High-Wheel design on sale. This lil red beauty arrived in only 3 days, thanks to Sear's superfast free home shipping! We had it out of the box & running in a few minutes. The first thing I noticed was the supereasy pull-start, that for once didn't break my arm like our last one. It was smooth, easy to pull and fired up the first time....ahhh luxury already. And away we went, I was impressed how lightweight it was and easy to maneuver. Our last mower would miss some of the long dandelions or grass here & there, but this Craftsman gave a clean, smooth cut across the yard. It offered tight edging that was perfect for going up to my flower beds, and easy to adjust mower levels as well. I decided to put it to the test of making a trail through our overgrown back field that our last mower constantly stalled & could never do the job. But lil red powered through the long grass, ferns & weeds with power and no stalling. So impressed!! Our land is flat for the most part, but covers a lot of ground. And I was able to do nearly all of it in just one tank of gas! The efficiency of this new Craftsman was amazing, as my previous mower used to take atleast 2-3 fill-ups to do the same amount of space. We've used it many times this summer and still just as in love with it as the first day. It fires up the first pull EVERY TIME. And the 'vibration' level is very low too, which is nice to have my hands still feel normal when I'm finished mowing, instead of all shaky afterwards. I'm a 5'3 small-build mom and I have no problem getting this fantastic lil mower around. Love it.

Mower Runs Great, Not Happy With Condition of Delivery

The mower started right up on the very first pull. Unfortunately, that was after about 40 minutes of trying to get it put together.

First, the predrilled holes in the handle didn't line up. So, after about 15 minutes of trying to get it to work, I took the handle apart, got the t-bolts into the finally lined up holes, then put the handle back together.

Then, there is a bolt and a "****" you put in the mid-handle to adjust it. However, one of the bolts was missing. There was a hole in the box and it must have fell out. I had to run to the hardware store and buy a new one for 25 cents. Not much, but it was the time and the whole idea of having to buy a part for a brand new mower.

Like I said, the mower started right up on the first pull and it ran great during the first mow. Obviously, the packer couldn't get the t-bolts in either since the holes didn't line up so he or she simply threw all the parts in the box and I ended up losing one through the delivery.

Better than expected

I've had mine for two months now and no problems at all. Came fully assembled in box, which fit in the back seat of my Ford Fusion. Sears rep loaded it in my car for me - props there! Oil, gas, pull and on my way. I exclusively mulch and this has handled fairly tall grass with ease. The height adjustment is a snap and contrary to other reviews I do not foresee problems with the new take Crafstman introduced on this. The wheel height arm has a protruding prong that locks into holes/notches on the frame. Doesn't seem like something that can't be fixed down the road to me if you are semi-confident with tools. The mower is light as can be and the rear wheels make for easy turns. I actually mow faster now than I did with my prior mower with front wheel drive. Get it, you won't be disappointed!

Craftsman Mower

I received a Craftsman walk behind mower for Fathers Day 2014 and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I didn't realize what I was missing,I had a Craftsman that was at least 20 years old and I had to work on it all the time- but it still worked. It is so much easier with this new one, starts every time on the first pull and mows beautifully, easy to assemble. I really love it,

SUICIDE?

Been using Craftsman mowers for over 50 years. Bought this less than a month ago. Started easily contrary to older reviews, light weight. Handle does NOT fold easily for transport. Mowing today, 21" rotary blade came totally off, just missed my foot. Reinstalled blade, seemed to have all pieces, tightened it well, tried to start. Weird noise, topped immediately, blade had totally come off again and out the side. And Sears would not come out to replace or repair. This ain't good business.

Craftsman 140cc* Briggs & Stratton Engine

This mowers is an excellent choice. Love the wheel adjustment, where on wheel adjusts all the others, no priming to start, and the high back wheels makes maneuvering so easy.

Easy to handle and a sure starter

I had picked this mower for my 71 year old female neighbor who still mows her large but level lawn. Last year the Sears salesman talked her out of buying this model and sold her a large self-propelled which she was enable to maneuver so we returned it. The mower is light weight and much easier to handle. The mower started easily with the very first pull. She likes the lower setting for the handle and being able to adjust both front wheels or rear wheels with just one lever each. While fairly level her yard is not that smooth so the larger rear wheels help when pushing. The open side delivery chute is easy to attach when the grass to too tall to mulch. Her only complaint is that it is loud.

this lawnmower is easy to use and assemble, easy to adjust the wheels. good

easy to start, assemble and one pull start every time. you can adjust both side wheels from on side instead of all four. easy to pull, cuts on both sides, if you don't in stall the side deflector you don't have to maneuver around so you can cut on one side.

Basic Machine...And That's Good

We wanted a simple power mower that wasn't self propelled. This machine was on sale and fit the bill. After several mowings we like this mower. It starts easily, is light and easy to push (big rear wheels are key) and doesn't seem to gobble too much gas. And it's not too loud, either.

Good Push Mower

The Craftsman 140cc Push Lawn Mower is a great lawn care tool. The high rear wheels are an improvement over a previous one we had. It starts right away which has always been a concern for me since I am not a strong puller.
