Tough and strong drill-driver

Pros: I really like this little drill/driver. I use it almost every week for anything from tightening screws to heavy duty drilling 1" holes. Compared to my old Black and Decker, this is like night and day. The batteries last really long and it is much stronger than my 19 V driver (from a cheaper manufacturer). The light that comes on during operation is a nice touch which I now can't live without. I have 3 batteries at this point, but honestly only need one, because the charger is fast and the battery last long. The driver feels good in the hand and is nicely balanced and small. Cons: When pushing hard on the unit (for example to tighten a difficult screw), it is easy to push the gear selector from low to high during operation by accident, which I would guess could harm the gears. The quick-chuck is not working as well anymore after 2 years of usage. Sometimes have to turn almost a full turn until is holds against me and allows me to tighten the chuck.

Nice drill while it lasted

It's a handy tool when it's functioning. Feels good in the hand, lightweight, & has decent power. I've had it about a year. It never sees hard use, just lightweight around the house use. The problem is that it started to smoke the other day, a very light scent. The following day smoke started pouring out of it, then it stopped functioning. The day after that it was functioning again because it had cooled off. The troublesome thing is that I was driving small machine screws at the first clutch setting, & only for a couple of minutes total, so there wasn't any kind of strain going on. Over the 3 days it was in operation for between 3 & 4 minutes total. I doubt it's going to last much longer. Doing some research on the 'net, it seems that the electric motor burning out is a common issue. Now I'm torn between buying another one, or just spending twice as much to get another brand that will last.

perfect size

|

perfect size and weight for smaller projects and tight spaces, yet powerful enough for almost any job. Batteries last long and don't ever slow down. They just shut off when expended.

Power in a light package

|

This drill is compact and light, yet still delivers power and speed.
Comparing to other 12 V liquid Ion systems, Craftsman 12 Volt system attributes are compact design, and light weight. It is still powerful enough for any homeowner to enjoy. So far Craftsman 112 Volt Liquid Ion system includes a jigsaw, which is half size of standard one. Compact impact drive, which delivers over 800 lb of torque. Power hammer with rotating power head. Quick power multi tool. Do to health issues I had to switch to light weight tools. So far, Craftsman 12 Volt Liquid Ion system works very well for me. Craftsman 12 Volt Liquid Ion drill has two speed transmission with 18 steps clutch plus drill position. Like other tool from this series, it is compact and light, but still delivers 1300 rpm and almost 200 lp of torque. Comparing to Ryobi 12 Volt Liquid Ion systems, Ryobi delivers only 600 rpm and weights 3.3 lb

Handy little drill!

|

I bought this drill/driver for my husband, but surprisingly I have picked it up quite a few times and have used it with ease. I also bought the 100 piece bit set to use with it, which I recommend buying. Very happy so far with this purchase.

Light drill

|

I bought this to use on a project that my daughter and I are building in the back yard, quite a ways from a power source. It's okay....but nothing spectacular. We've done light drilling and have been disappointed with the mangled exit hole. Instructions do suggest putting a piece behind to minimize this, but the corded drill handles this just fine. We'll see when we get to using the torque wrench aspect. Otherwise, it is light and easy to handle.

Lightweight but powerful enough

|

I also have the c3 impact driver and the lightweight of this 12v impact driver makes me reach for it more often than the 19.2. The only issue is no on-tool storage for bits but solved that with a custom made bit holder that attaches to the top with velco.

My perfect Drill

|

This is my go to drill. I'm always using it light weight but plenty of power for most jobs. If I could own just one drill this would be the one!!

Lots of power in a small package

|

For about five years I've been lugging around a real basic NiCad 18 or 20 volt cordless drill to do everything around the house. I mostly just got sick of it's heft and unwieldiness in trying to install some cabinets. I bought this little guy hoping to make my life easier and boy has it. After getting it I immediately put it to work installing some fire alarm covers, drilling some pilots and screwing some screws, it was perfect for the task. It's so light you can just pop it in your back pocket if you need to free up a hand. I'm sure there are tasks that it isn't up to, but for basically anything around the house, this is a great little drill/driver, well worth the cost.

Craftsman 12v Drill Review

|

I've owned this drill for a couple months now, and have already found it to be my most often used power tool. The charge lasts a surprisingly long time. This drills with accuracy and I love the driver setting as well. Another nice feature is that you can set the drill to different torque settings depending on your situation. Great for around the house jobs, have used it for drilling into wood, drywall as well as driving screws. Seems very dependable, well-made.

Impressed

|

As a professional, I normally wouldn't buy this small a drill but my dad got me one for Christmas last year. I've been using it around my house and it's really impressed me. Lightweight, yet strong enough for any job around the home. I accidentally left it outside and it got 4 inches of snow and ice on it. It was actually frozen inside a shell of ice. I chipped off what I could and let it thaw out. The next day I pulled the trigger and it started right up. I haven't even had to charge it since. I would definitely recommend this drill/driver.

Great item for the price

|

I think for the price, you can't beat these drills. The entire nextec line is of decent quality for the price. Obviously not professional quality, but great as a supplement to a quality larger drill or someone who is an occasional user. Battery retention could be better constructed.

Perfect compliment to the Nextec Impact driver

|

I had to look around a bit to find the Nextec 12 V drill. I have the impact driver and it is my "go to" screwdriver. I like the way it feels, the power and its light weight. Now with both the drill and the impact driver, projects go faster. The batteries charge fast and last a very long time.

good deal

|

I just wanted a second charger and maybe another battery, but this package was a better deal by far than just buying the charger by its self.

This is a great drill!

|

I love this drill. It has great driving capacity. My friends laughed when I pulled this drill out to drive 3 1/2" screws into two 8 x 2 beams. After I sunk several screws keeping up with 20 volt drills they shook their heads in amazement. It has a good battery life. excellent torque, and best of all it is light.
