Best blade for any Sears donut deck mulching mower

This is the blade Sears should be supplying with their 22" donut deck Mulching mowers. This Blade is stamped #141114 on the bottom (aka 71-33365), and has the best blade geometry for tumbling the cut grass under the donut deck multiple times. That's what Mulching is all about, ie cut the same blade of grass 2 or 3 times until it is minced. Then the minced clippings fall between the grass and decay on the dirt, where you can't see them.

I had this blade on my old Craftsman "push mulching mower" for three years and have been happy with the results. This Spring 09 I decided to treat myself to a new "self propelled" mulching mower. Basically the same bagless (side discharge) Mulching model but with front wheel drive. Boy was I happy that it now pulled me along, but I was totally disappointed by the cutting quality. I never tried the side discharge mode, but the mulching mode blew long clippings out from under the skirt, and forget about mulching if the grass was even slightly damp. After a few weeks of use, and just before returning the mower to my local Sears, I decided to install my 3 year old mulching blade (#141114 being reviewed here) from my old push mower. Suddenly the new mower became a different machine. There was no sign of clumps of dead grass laying anywhere. It did not bog down in the thicker section of the yard, and when I looked under the deck to clean the caked on goo there was none. The old blade (141114) was totally superior to the newer one that came with the mower.

If you are using your Sears donut deck mower as mainly a Mulching mower, then dump the (#406713, aka 71-33256) blade that is supplied. Replace it with this (#411114, aka 71-33365) blade and be amazed.

PS. This blade was not available at every Sears store I went to, but is worth searching for!

mulch blade

Excellent product and works great.

Bagging is so much easier and less work on raking.

Replacement blade for mulching/bagging lawnmower

Great blade for replacing an existing blade on your lawnmower.  Much more powerful than the standard one that comes with your mower.  The mulching capability is better than most and does not leave ugly looking clumps all over your yard, so raking is not necessary.  Would highly recommend this blade to everyone!
