Stable, Sturdy and Maneuverable Floor Jack

I recently ordered the Craftsman Professional 3-ton aluminum floor jack online (Greenwood Sears retail store did not stock it). I'm satisfied with the quality of this jack. It's a sturdy piece with smooth rolling wheels. The 2-piece handle gives a little, while actuating the lifting arm. The hydraulics need to be bled prior to first use (per instructions). I spilled a little jack oil during the bleeding process, so have some on hand to refill if necessary (Sears stocks the jack oil). The faux carbon fiber decals add a little "wow factor", but does not add lightness, as the jack is a hefty 65+ lbs. I was hoping the jack arm would be low enough with a long enough reach to raise the front end of my 1997 BMW M3/4-door just underneath the engine's subframe, but the car needs to be driven on ramps for the jack arm to clear the front swaybar. The jack is low enough to reach the rear differential cross brace, and the entire rear end can be raised from that jacking point. A great value at $280.

Nice Floor Jack but...

This is a nice floor jack until the return spring for the hydralic assembly breaks. It happened to me on a cold day with no load on it yet and pop, return spring broke. I had it less than a year! Thinking since its a craftsman pro series I'll just take it back to the store I purchased it from and get a replacement. No luck for me because I didn't have my proof of purchase. No biggie I thought, I'll just order the part from parts direct. So I go to parts direct and enter the model number and low and behold, they do NOT recognize the model number. So I call. I was told that they do not show this model as servicable but they will submit it to their parts research group since it may be so new it may not be listed yet. Two weeks later I get a message from sears stating that the part is not available. Thats it, no options. If your going to buy this I strongly suggest you don't loose your receipt.

3 ton aluminum floor jack

My jack went out. When I needed one I had to go to my sons house and use his to rotate my tires or change my oil. His jack is steel and is very heavy. after using his heavy jack, I said no more, I need something I can move around easy so I went to sears to look around .The three ton aluminum jack was $120.00 off so I took it home . it's very very light, looks nice and works great. it has stickers that fell off in the box, no big deal. I've never had a jack as light as this. you won't be disappointed.

Great looking Junk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had this jack for about 2 1/2 years and it worked fine until about two months ago, now will not even pick it self up. I will admit it has been use a lot, not abused. I have a 35 year old Sears jack that still works today. Screwed by Sears! Sears just makes stuff to sell, not give their customers quality.

Do not purchase

After using this jack for a year and a half one of the rear casters fell off. I then found out you can not purchase any parts for this jack. I will no longer purchase any craftsman tools.

All Glitter, ...NO Guts

Not even 6 months old, on it's third use, lifting 30% of it's rated capacity, the main piston seal failed and the power unit bled all over the floor. We've had multiple Sears floor jacks, among different family members for 30 years and those POFJs (plain old floor jacks) are still going strong. This one looks fancy, but the guts are lacking. Additionally, the big side rails take up critical space.Where consistently reliable tools are important, or critical, ...in my recent experiences, ...Sears brand is losing reputation rapidly with an apparent Kmart philosophy of go cheap early. Most customers care what their dollars buy, and they have little patience for inferior.

Lightweight floor jack

I've had this floor jack for 5 years or so. It's very easy to use and lifts very easily. I have used it everywhere from offroading with my jeep, to regular maintenance jobs in my garage. It's key advantage is how light it is. You can literally take it with you anywhere. It has a nice tall reach as well. It just stopped working a few days ago - I'll bring it to Sears for repair, think it just needs some hydraulic oil. I still recommend this jack very highly.

aluminum floor jack problem

I own this floor jack. I bought it because i love craftsman tools and thats all i want to own. I was a little disapointend because i have had it for a few years now and i have only used it about 3 times and i was changing the brakes on my truck and when i took the tire off the jack gave and lost its pressure. My full size truck slammed on the ground on one side, it was sitting on the brake rotor. i was a little disapointed because almost all of my tools are craftsman and it is pretty much the only brand that i trust. Even though i had only used this jack about three times sears would not repair it or replace the jack because because i had already had it for a few years. but its o.k. ill never stop buying craftsman tools.

Very, Very Poor Quality

There once was a time when you literally were guaranteed a quality product when it carried the Craftsman label. Sadly those days are long gone and Sears will slap the Crafstman name on any cheap piece of made in China junk just to make a buck. In the process they have destroyed the integrity of the brand. This jack had a leaking cylinder from it's first few uses and has gotten consistently worse. I bought it for occasional use doing maintenance on my vehicles, none of which weigh more than 2 tons. It has gotten to the point were it cannot be trusted to be used safely.Sears knows there iproblemblem with this product and should offer discounted parts to the customers who have problems out of warranty. But they want a $160 for the replacement hydraulic cylinder and that money is better spent on another, higher quality product. Sadly it will be one that carries a label other than Craftsman.

Craftsman 3 ton aluminum floor jack gets the job

This is one of the smoothest jacks I've ever used, and I've used hundreds of different ones. It lifts my truck effortlessly and brings it back down smooth and slow. I even got it under my brother-in-law's volvo which has maybe 6 inches of clearance, this is unheard of with a 3 ton jack. Only downside is the price, but you get what you pay for.

Don't Buy!

Well, I'm on my second jack (had to take the first one back because it didn't jack). Now I'm getting ready to take the second one back because a wheel fell off. You cannot tip the jack, it won't pump up. Leaks fluid, and we haven't even had it a year. I'm trying to figure out what "other" jack Sears has that I can purchase instead of this one. We use a hydrolic jack in the garage, so this jack only gets used at the track. What a piece of crap.

Works good

Jack works great and looks good doing it. The faux carbon fiber are cheap stickers that peal off but the jack still looks great and is low enough to get my vette up in the air. Althoguh some parts are aluminum the jack is still pretty heavy though it's not like I am lifting the thing all that often so really not a big deal.

Low profile and still gets good height

It works great. Lifts easily and has a nice low profile to fit under my camaro but still has a good lift height. Only con would be that you can jack fast. You have to raise lever with a smooth speed or you beat hydrulics pump to top and doesnt get a full swing on lever action.

Not good for a pro

I have had this for a couple of years now. I took the first one back because it wouldn't hold when brand new. This one has been a POS from the first week I got it. It does look cool, It has never jacked a vehicle up right as in it has never had a full stroke, and it will not roll unless on perfectly smooth concrete. It has almost pulled several vehicles off the jack, and would have if I hadn't been really watching closely. The wheels are always falling off the thing. If you are buying this to work in a shop with, Don't! I am constantly trying to get it to work right and never succeed.I may make it a little better for a while but it always goes back to 1/3 of a stroke. You can't get parts for it either. At least when I tried to I couldn't. I am now looking for another GOOD jack. It cost me 399 new and I really feel at that price for all the tinkering I have had to do to keep it going, I have really not gotten my moneys worth out of this jack. I also believe that since it is a pro series that Sears should stand behind this jack. I have pretty much lost my trust in craftsman tools over this jack and several other tools that they will not stand behind. DO NOT believe the Lifetime warranty line. It is not true. If they can get out of it they will. Trust me.

Not worth $300

Looks Cool. But looks don not raise your car off of your garage floor.Failed after 2nd use. "UP" feature failed...stays down perfectly.Still heavy...Not lightweight enough to charge 3 times the price of an all steel jack.Took it back and replaced it with a basic 3 ton jack that will last 5 to 10 years instead of 5 to 10 months.
