To all the Bashers of this item, get real. A few may have got a lemon (motor problems ect.), but most of the complaints are from people that didn't know how to use the mower, or abused the mower, or just thought it might do the work for them. Going on 3 years with mine and NO problems. Does exactly what it is supposed to do, cut grass, quickly and evenly. Owned a previous model that did well also, this one is better. Only complaint is that I wish the rear tires were taller and a bit narrower to give more stability on inclines.

Piece of ****

Just barely out of warrany, multiple repairs during warranty period, just broke AGAIN! Of course, Sears doesn't want to fix it even though it is the parts that they replaced during warranty period. Let's see, two shafts, upper bearing, this thing vibrates worse than any of the cheaper mowers I have bought. Buy a cheap one from ***** or ********** before you by this junk. Craftsman name means absolutley nothing on this mower. Do yourself a favor, if they were to offer this riding tractor to you free from Sears, PUSH MOW YOUR YARD with the cheapest mower you can find. You will be happier doing it that way.

Run Run Run very far from this 1

|

Bought in June 2013 the 1st repair was in Feb 2014 and now I have the repair man coming again. I thought buying craftsman name would mean that I bought at least a five to six year tractor. I take meticulous care in every item I own. This tractor required a full engine replacement before the end of the 1st year. Second year same problem with Compression relief. This time I am out a two to three week waiting time for repair man to come. I had a cheap Bolens bought in 2003 for about $990.00 that lasted without any major problems and still sold it in 2013 for $300.00. For a tractor to be close to the $1500.00 run away, the brigggs and stratton motor sucks. My warranty is close to expiring now I will need to get the extension in order to continue to use product.

DO NOT BUY

|

Bought this mower and the next day the transmission was out. Luckily, the store replaced it. Within 4 months, belts were breaking, the steering wheel came loose, and the carburetor had to be replaced. It has now been one year and two months and the front wheel fell off. Please don't waste your time, this is a piece of JUNK!

Poor Engine

|

Bought new in 2011. Changed oil and filter every spring. Engine blew a head gasket this spring after only 3 years. Had to replace belts after 2 years. Can not recommend.

Stay away

|

One engine replaced during warranty, now the second one needs replacing and its out of warranty. Burns oil from the day you buy it (read manual it says it will) and just gets worse with time. Mower deck vibrates badly. Safety switch had to be bent and modified by a tech in my driveway due to it shutting down the tractor all the time. It may be listed as a 21 hp but it has less power than my 19hp I replaced it with. After owning two similar sears mowers that lasted 10 years plus I will never buy another from sears. Maybe it would be ok for a small, flat
lawn but I'd still stay away from it.

Needs some help

|

Bought this about 1 year ago, and use it only to mow around the house (less than 1/2 acre, have a Kubota tractor for the other 5 acres with finish mower). This has been pampered and in a garage, only used a few times. It is the roughest riding thing I have ever had. A pin that secured the clutch/brake pedal fell out and was lost in the yard someplace, and I replaced it. The deck level control is pitiful, if it's jarred or brushes a small plant, it goes to the lowest level. Today I pulled back in the driveway and tried to throttle it down and the throttle broke off in my hand. Engine has plenty of power and it cuts so-so, but I have a problem with durability. Just waiting for something else to fall off or break. If I had tried this out before I bought it, I wouldn't have.

Lawn Tractor Does the Job

|

A good product for the price. If you live in a cold winter area make sure you remove the battery or it will go dead and it will hard be hard to charge. You'll like the tight turning radius and solid structure.

Great Mower for the $$ YT 3000 46" 21 hp

|

Im about to start my 4th summer with this mower and Im pretty happy with it. Motor runs nice, starts right up. I put the mulching kit on & it cuts Very nice. I have about 2 acres to cut & it does it on less than a tank of gas. My only problem with this mower has been the cable that engages the blade, Ive had to replace it 3 times. I think its about $20 if I remember correctly.

Going on 13 years

|

Well, it's about giving out and lots of things going bad! 14 1/2 years and we put a new engine 21/2 years ago. Engine still strong; but electrical going bad; won't start, guess it's time to send it to the scrapheap! Did a lot of work besides cutting grass i.e. (pulling sprayer, cart, dragging leveler and pulling a trailer; never any problems except the norm. Just change oil, lubricate it, clean the air filter and a little TLC! Just like your ole Lady and it keeps going! I hope the next one gives me the same service without the problems; just like the ole Lady!

Best Riding Mower/Tractor I have had in 35 years

|

Purchased this at an outlet store where it was reduced over $700 and I just love it. Used it the day I brought it home and can now cut up against a 12 inch pine tree and instantly as well as effortlessly increase/reduce the speed with the hydrostatic infinite speed transmission.

good luck

|

I have had 2 lawn tractors in last 28 years, this was to be my last.
It was loud and vribration was bad. Last straw was mower disengauge
hammered right hand, thought it was broken. Still not sure. Glad to hear some folks got good ones. My last one was 2cyl so guess im going to have to stay with 2 cyl engines without mower disenguage on top.

HELLO Charlene, thanks for the inquiry about using your tractor. As with any vehicle,(tractor included) when the front wheels hit an obstruction there will be movement either left or right especially if the hit is indirect. This movement actually prevents damage to the steering linkage. It is recommended that any area to be mowed is walked first to remove and obstructions before mowing to prevent damage to the mower and personal injury. It is also suggested that both hands be placed on the steering wheel, gripping from the outside only, so that the steering wheel can rotate slightly during driving. Gripping on the inside of the wheel should be avoided as this could cause personal injury if the wheels and steering suddenly rotate.
Please refer to your owner's manual about safe operation of the tractor.

I hope this helps you.
