To all the Bashers of this item, get real. A few may have got a lemon (motor problems ect.), but most of the complaints are from people that didn't know how to use the mower, or abused the mower, or just thought it might do the work for them. Going on 3 years with mine and NO problems. Does exactly what it is supposed to do, cut grass, quickly and evenly. Owned a previous model that did well also, this one is better. Only complaint is that I wish the rear tires were taller and a bit narrower to give more stability on inclines.

Cuts grass, but low quality manufacturing

I purchased this mower about 11 months ago to mow my 1.5 acre lawn. It has it's pros and cons: Cons: The mower only has 3 height settings low, lower, and strip your lawn to dirt. Of the 6 settings on the adjustment handle, 1-3 are impossible to use. You'd literally have to pick the mower up and keep the wheels off the ground to get the mower deck into positions 1, 2, or 3. As it stands I keep the deck at the highest setting and take care when crossing changes in grade to avoid scalping the lawn. I have lowered the idler wheels on the mower deck to their lowest setting, and this helps. Although I'd rather cut the grass at least an inch taller in the hottest part of the summer...The mower needs taller tires or a redesigned suspension to make this possible. Two days ago I went out to cut my lawn, and found the mower deck dangling free on the right side. One of two brackets on the rear of the mower deck had snapped off. Upon closer inspection, I found that one of two welds holding that bracket on was defective. The weld was cold lapped onto the mower deck, without actually fusing into the steel of the deck. There was paint underneath the weld bead in a few spots. I'm a welder by trade, so I repaired the deck in about an hour, and returned to work. But for the average person, this would have taken the mower out of service for days or weeks and probably cost several hours and a $100 or so to repair. The quality of manufacturing is low in this product. go here for pictures of the repair. http://weldingweb.com/showthread.php?311871-Mower-deck-repair-only-11-months-old-yet-another-example-of-quality-manufacturing&p=3115881&posted=1#post I have a bagging attachment. Whoever designed the straps that retain the chute to the mower deck does not have normal hands. It is very difficult to hook and un-hook the rubber bungie straps that keep the bagging chute attached to the mower deck. It's just bad design work... The rear of the mower needs more weight. Backing up on wet grass or up a slope is chancy. I have noted that the mower works much more reliably when the bagger has a heavy load of grass in the bags. I'm considering a way to add some weight to the mower's rear end.... Sears assembled the mower, but lost my spare key and the fitting that allows the operator to connect a garden hose to the mower deck for washing the deck clean. When I returned to the store to ask for these parts, I was dismissed and told to buy them off the shelf. Poor customer service after the initial sale... Pros: The mower cuts grass. It starts easily and the engine runs smoothly. The mower seems stable on uneven terrain. The hydrostatic drive is pleasant to use. It seems relatively fuel efficient, although this is guesswork on my part. I fill the fuel tank every other cut; meaning I get about 3 hours of run time on 2 gallons of fuel. The mulching block for the mower deck works well and leaves the lawn clean looking if I don't feel like bagging.

Great Mower for the $$ YT 3000 46" 21 hp

Im about to start my 4th summer with this mower and Im pretty happy with it. Motor runs nice, starts right up. I put the mulching kit on & it cuts Very nice. I have about 2 acres to cut & it does it on less than a tank of gas. My only problem with this mower has been the cable that engages the blade, Ive had to replace it 3 times. I think its about $20 if I remember correctly.

Going on 13 years

Well, it's about giving out and lots of things going bad! 14 1/2 years and we put a new engine 21/2 years ago. Engine still strong; but electrical going bad; won't start, guess it's time to send it to the scrapheap! Did a lot of work besides cutting grass i.e. (pulling sprayer, cart, dragging leveler and pulling a trailer; never any problems except the norm. Just change oil, lubricate it, clean the air filter and a little TLC! Just like your ole Lady and it keeps going! I hope the next one gives me the same service without the problems; just like the ole Lady!

Best Riding Mower/Tractor I have had in 35 years

Purchased this at an outlet store where it was reduced over $700 and I just love it. Used it the day I brought it home and can now cut up against a 12 inch pine tree and instantly as well as effortlessly increase/reduce the speed with the hydrostatic infinite speed transmission.

good luck

I have had 2 lawn tractors in last 28 years, this was to be my last.
It was loud and vribration was bad. Last straw was mower disengauge
hammered right hand, thought it was broken. Still not sure. Glad to hear some folks got good ones. My last one was 2cyl so guess im going to have to stay with 2 cyl engines without mower disenguage on top.

I will not buy any single cylinder tractor again.

I cannot reccomend this tractor. The main problem is the single cylinder 21HP motor. It vibrates a lot more and is noisier than the twin cylinder motors. I also found the twin blade deck does a lot more scalping in the yard compared to my old three blade mower deck. I was really unlucky because the motor on the tractor I got had a defective vale system and the motor quit after 3 weeks. I did buy the best warrenty Sears had to offer, It was well worth iy. I returned the tractor and got a 42" 22 HP one. (Again bought the externed Warrenty). If you get a chance to get this tractor on sale MAKE SURE TO BUY THE BEST EXTENDED WARRENTY ON IT!

Nothing but 5 stars from me so far!

We love our new mower. We bought it a month ago and have used it at least 4 times - it does a great job on our one acre lot that has a steep slope on a good part of it. I was a little afraid that it might have problems with the slope, but it goes up and down like a champion. Good power and a great cut. I would buy it again!

great product

We are very pleased with our rider. It has been very reliable. The 46" cuts a very nice path. We have over three acres to cut and it really cuts down on the amount of time cutting the grass.

Strong recommend to go with **********

In 2 years tractor stopped working. Sears tech tells me its a manufacturing defect. Some of the parts were left loose at the time of assembly. I has to pay $350 to repair it. Truly poor quality tractor.

Hi judith, the correct baggers for your tractor are on a decal under the hood, either the 2 bin 07124903 ($370) or 3 bin 07124904 ($430) will fit, both have cloth bags. Hope this helps.
