This is a fantastic kit for the price. The quality is the same as much more expensive pieces from high end brands. A necessity for any serious tool box. EDIT: This kit comes from the same manufacturer that the truck brands take and slap their logo on and sell for 3x-5x the price. This set has saved my **** twice already - once when I encountered a deformed wheel stud and the grinding bars filed the threads back to shape and once when I deformed an intake manifold bolt that threaded into the engine block. A quick run through of the bolt in the proper die and the bolt threaded back into its hole like butter. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
The product works good, but no warranty or you cannot even get a replacement piece when you break one
This is a fantastic Thread repair set. I've used Mac and Snap-on sets and the quality of this craftsman set is right on par. Definitely a must-have for anyone who does automotive projects.
Just received, good quality. As of 10/26/16 it is still made in the USA.
This saved my **** this weekend. Had a shock stud that stripped and was worried I'd miss work on Monday. $80 was far cheaper than taking the day off and towing it to a machine shop.
I've been a DIY guy for a while but recently my ************** stuff has been breaking a lot, so I've started purchasing everything from craftsman. This set has turned all my rusting bolts and nuts brand new with a little WD-40 and some time. I know that everything is torqued to spec after I use these.
This set is identical to the Snap-On set at less than half the cost. This makes the SO-fanboys very mad.
The set is very high quality and is super handy. I use the kit frequently.
First, These are not taps&Dies, they are thread chasers. Lube them and back them out to clear the crud off and they do the job.
I've used my set for many years and have only broken one internal part. Easily replaced off a truck.
Kastar tool is the maker of this kit, and the same people who make the S.On, Mac, Mco and Cwall kits as well. The only differences are the price and that SOn and Matco do replace the pieces that break, However you can buy 4 kits from Sears for one SOn... That said the trucks and online will also sell you replacement pieces.
