Craftsman 5 pc. Ball Pein Hammer Set
- Online / Catalog Exclusive!
I already have the complete set of Hickory-handled Craftsman ball pein hammers, and love them.
I had a chance to try out the one store sold 16 oz. sized, solid steel handled ball peins and was very impressed with its seemingly increased heft.
While hickory handled hammers are great for a degree of springyness in delivered hammer blows, the steel handled model seems to deliver a more energetic blow.
Since I am NOT using either type of hammer all day long, the difference in handle material does not affect my judgement of either tool.
Both type of handled tools have a good place in my workshop.
Have had theses hammers for a couple of years now and have used them quite a bit. You can't beat them for the price.
I bought this set awhile back and haven't used them yet. I still use my old beaters. The new one's look to beautiful in my tool box plus I get bragging rights. I might even mount them over my fireplace. Retired Journeyman diesel truck mechanic.

Great set of hammers, great selection of different weights for using punches or anything else you need them for.
I work in the metal fabrication industry and use these types of hammers every day. This set is great. I compared them to a standard hammer on an anvil and you feel alot less jolt than even a name brand competitor's hammer. I liked them so much I bought another set!!! They are slightly heavier but if that's a problem you just grab the next size smaller hammer.
The hammers are very durable and afforable, but much too heavy for everyday use. They weigh atleast twice as much as a fiberglass or composite handle hammer of equal weights. They are probably fine for occasional use, but under heavy use they are very hard on your arm compared to about any style handle. They are nicely made and very sturdy, but very tiring to use. Mine rarely get used because of that.
Great holiday gift. Now I know what to get for Dad on Father's Day. Very durable and the price is fabulous.
