Great Buy, Good Features

I bought this opener after buying my new car and having a new baby and baby things to shlep around. It made things so much easier. It is a great buy for the money and has some excellent features. The security pad outside the garage door allows my 14yr old to come and go after school with out having a key to the house we have to worry about her loosing. The two remotes have allowed my husband to have one as well as my father in law. I was able to program the remote capabilities for my car with this opener as well. Its like having three remotes for the same opener! I wasn't so sure about buying a garage door opener with a chain drive. I have never bought an opener before and had just assumed that a belt drive would be quiter. They may be. However, I felt that a chain drive would probably last longer so that is the one I bought. I figured I would just deal with the noise. After having the opener professionally installed by Sears (they did a fabulous job and the guy really knew his stuff), I was very pleasantly surprised that the chain isnt loud at all. As a matter of fact, the thing that is making the noise is my metal garage door. The chain drive doesnt seem to be making noise at all! I would highly recomend this product. The price is great. The lighting feature, extra remotes and car programable ability, the key pad and the lock out capability are absolutely great. I use all of them.

only lasted 10 months

Opener quit working after 10 months and you have to pay for a service call to get warranty service which is about the same as a new opener.

Love It!

We bought this item after having replace our garage door remotes. We kept having trouble opening and closing our garage door. My husband decided to just replace the entire unit just to see if it would make a difference. And boy did it ever! We no longer have problems opening and closing the garage door. This opener is so much quieter than our old unit. This unit offers more features than our last unit offered. We are able to have better security and not worry that some one can break into our house by the garage. We love this opener and are very glad that we changed it!

Easy to install

We really like this opener. Pretty easy to install. Instructions were clear.

The only issue I had was the box was missing some key bolts, nuts, and lock washers. Had to make a run to the hardware store for those.

I like the Craftsman brand. I bought a snowblower this past winter. I have many tools. And now this new Craftsman opener. Great quality.

can't complain

Everything I've bought lately with the Craftsman name on it has been a disappointment but this opener was exactly what I expected it should be. It's been in service for over three years with no problems.

Works as intended.

I have 2 of these . The board went out on one. The new unit was way cheaper than the parts .Now I have all the other parts as spare.

Installed without issue and working well

I installed this opener myself and it id working well. Some DIY know-how and mechanical aptitude is recommended for installation, but not bad at all if you have that. Opener is working well and no issues thus far.

better than I expected

Have never had the keypad outside of the door before and I am very pleased to have that feature. I use it all the time when working in the yard. I don't have to leave the door open while doing yard work and working in the back yard. Gives me a greater sense of security without having to carry around keys or an opener.

The Best

For forty years all I ever used is Craftsman garage door openers. The one I just replaced was up since 1990. I would not have to replace this one except our house in Michigan had a power surge and anything that was plugged in was bad. Thank you Sears for being helpful and there for me and my family. we needed a freeze and a water softner a coffee pot and a lot of other stuff and SEARS was there.
we had a friend in Florida that hired a company to put a garage door opener in 3 years ago 850 bucks and it went bad sooo they had the same company do it again and it was only 1100 the next time... I told them don't ever do that again because the Sears garage door opener at about the 200 dollar mark is a lot better and I can install it easily.. well make next time and oh by the way my Sears opener in Florida has been up for almost 17 years ....

Good Product With Just One Complaint

I bought this garage door opener to replace my older Craftsman opener that finally expired after 22 years of service. The newer opener is different in that it is made of lighter materials, most notable is the light gauge center guide that the door moves along. Considering that there is no real weight bearing aspects to this part I am not very concerned that it is of a lighter grade material.
Big pluses have t be given for the dual lighting, super quiet motor, and multi-function remotes.
The biggest draw back is the indoor control panel. it is made of extremely low grade materials. The panel/button cannot be secured firmly against the wall because it causes the internals to flex, thus rendering the unit useless. Aside from having to keep the indoor control slightly loose on the wall, Also, the large button that opens the garage door is constantly sticking after being pushed. It has become a habit for me to push the opener and then flip the control with my finger to get the button to reset and the embedded LED to re-light.
I highly recommend the Craftsman line of garage door openers , but I would suggest that you pick a model that does not have the indoor control unit that is supplied with this model.

Great Garage Door Opener

This opener was bought for my elderly parents who could not open their heavy garage door. We had Sears install it because of the age of the old door and tracks. Everything went well and my parents are very happy they can now get in and out without a hassle. Mom and Dad buy everything Sears.

Gets The Job Done!

I installed this unit as a replacement for a worn-out LiftMaster opener that had been in place for many years and was about to give up the ghost.

Installation was straightforward: the instructions were clearly written, and assembly was easy. I have to admit that since I was replacing a similar older model, much of the groundwork was already done for me (for example, the motor mounting and door brackets).

I really like the wireless external keypad, which is a new feature for me. We have a detached garage, so we had to keep an extra controller in the house to open the door: now we can just walk to the door and open it via the keypad.

The only minor concern I have is that the original LiftMaster had a solid steel bar as the runner for the chain and trolley: this model has a series of segmented bars that you lock together to extend from the motor to the garage header. I am sure it's solid enough, but time will tell if it bends or warps.

So far, I am very glad I bought and installed this Craftsman unit.

Garage door opener

All was good with the system until it got turned on. The products technology was erratic and clearly not following the installation guide behavioral instructions. The product components settled down after 1 hour and began to look like the product the manufacture documented. I provided insight to the manufacture so they could make corrections. So far no meaningful response in return.
The manufacture is Chamberlin. My objection is them wasting my time following their instructions to accomplish a goal.
FYI- the system now works after many hours of tweaking but is not what I expected.

This almost happened to me, as well. It looked like the points were being automatically applied and I almost missed the extra place I had to click during checkout to make it happen.
