An impact wrench on steroids.

I purchased this product, and I'll have to add that it has a lot of power. At first, I was skeptic about it because I was always going for the top name brands like Mac and Snap-on. I work in a body shop, and very often I have to remove the tires from a vehicle to repair wheel-well openings on the quarter panels and fenders. Before, I was using the MG725 Snap-on impact wrench to remove tires. I had it for over a year, until it started giving me problems, since I didn't buy it new, but used for $200.00 dollars. I wasn't going to pay close to $600.00 dollars for a new one, which I think is absurd. Instead, I came across the Craftsman Professional 1/2 impact wrench. I read the aspects on it, and as soon as I saw that it was equipped with 710 lbs of Torque, I had to get it. I tried it on a 2011 Dodge Ram Super Duty diesel truck, just for the heck of it. I was amazed that the impact wrench removed the lug nuts quickly with a 60 gallon air compressor.

bad

Bad and I don't mean good !Mechanic since 86 . I love Sears, buy there all the time. And still will , but this gun has to be the worst I have ever had. First one felt weak so I returned it,and they gave me a new one. Another year has gone by and the gun is useless .Rated at 710 lbs ,8000 rpm, ,, it spins ,,, maybe 800 now !Never really seemed to have the advertized power ! VERY disappointed in this gun .

This model will loosen even the tightest bolts

I purchased an air compressor which came with a different model impact driver. The air compressor was not enough to power the impact driver which accompanied it nor was it able to break loose lug nuts.

I returned all of them, purchased a better compressor and this impact driver. It loosens even the tightest bolts and nuts. This is the one to have if you want one which works. My only complaint is that it doesn't have a storage case for when its not in use but that doesn't effect the operation so I'm giving it 5 stars.

Excellent Performance

I have used this professionally for a bit over two years. I have been very pleased with the performance and power of the Craftsman product. No down time or repairs as of yet, so it has saved me time and especially money when you consider what one of comparable performance sells for off the truck. Good job Craftsman!

So Far So Good.

I am a GS Tech at a mechanic shop. I bought this impact yesterday. Used it 3 times today. First was a Toyota hybrid tire rotation. (Torque specs 80 ft/lbs.) I barley had to squeeze the trigger with it on the second setting to zip the lug nuts off. The second was a Toyota Cruiser with the same result. Then a Taurus (specs 100 ft/lbs) no problem. So far, so good. It has plenty of torque to do what I need. It experiences change, I will update my post.

Strong impact wrench!

Ever since I purchased this Craftsman Professional 1/2 impact wrench about a year ago or so, it is still going strong. I've been using it to remove tires, 3-4 times a week in a body shop that specializes in restoring vehicles. With a little over 700 pounds of torque, and at 4.25 lbs, this impact wrench removes lug nuts from diesel trucks easily with a 60 gallon air compressor. The only DOWNFALL about the impact wrench is that the side decals peeled off last year during winter, and I never got a chance to stick them back in place. So they got lost, and now I have been looking online to buy a pair of decals, but no parts direct store carries them, not even Sears parts & repair center has them. I take care of this impact wrench very well. Every time I'm using it, I always keep a microfiber cloth handy when I place it on the ground after I'm done removing lug nuts to prevent it from scratching. I like to keep my tools either in mint condition or near mint, so that's why the side decals are important. Other than that, I recommend it to those who don't care about the cosmetic looks.

Rebadge matco imapact wrench!!!!

I love it. Ive been using it for 7 months now and its still strong. I've drop it numerous times, used it to bang off stuck tires. I work at a tire shop and this gun is my friend. Matco and cman pro have same designed impact guns.
This gun is the real deal wish i could post a picture of how beat up it looks.

Good for home use. Not a professional quality tool.

I got this impact wrench as a Christmas present to go with the Craftsman Professional 27-gallon upright compressor I purchased earlier in the year. Overall, it has worked well, though it is a bit on the delicate side for a "professional" tool. The trigger and selector switch are not very rugged, and the finish on the tool will last about one job before it's completely scuffed. The silver head is painted, if you put it down on concrete, it will scratch immediately. I have my doubts that the tool is putting out the claimed torque, but for taking off lug nuts and most bolts, it works just fine. For the same price, you can buy an Aircat 1150, which puts out 1300 lb-ft of torque (verified) and is assembled in the USA. The Craftsman Pro is now my back-up wrench and the Aircats get the daily usage. For a home user, this tool will seem amazing and will probably be everything he/she will want. For a pro who wrenches for a living, this wrench will leave you wanting.

Nice tool

I have a smaller one and this pro version will handle the tasks that one will not. Like the adjustment near the trigger. It makes it easier to adjust quickly.

Good Gun but there are better ones out there in this price range.

I recommend it for it lightweight and compactness. Recently, I just ordered an Aircat 1150k and it is a beast; however, this is a great gun. I upgraded to this from the Craftsman Composite one not the cheap one but the one that costs around ~120

Awesome Impact!

Received this impact as a Christmas gift from my parents. Was a little worried from reading some of the bad reviews on it but this is an amazing impact for the money. I have a 27 gallon craftsman professional compressor with a regulator and air filter/water remover; this impact works wonderfully with this setup. It has 3 torque settings (idk what the torques are on these settings?? Depends on air pressure/flow I guess) but it doesnt have any trouble removing my lugs on setting 1. My lugs are properly torqued and coated with anti-seize though. Ive removed some lugs from vehicles that are neglected and setting 3 zipped them right off. When putting lugs on, I find that a few quick bumps on setting 1 torques the lugs just under 100 ft-lbs as verified by my craftsman torque wrench. The paint on the nose of the impact does chip off very easily. Would be great if this area has a rubber boot over it so you could quickly lay the impact down. Highly recommend this impact!

False advertising! 711 ft lbs on what planet I ask?

711 ft lbs my ****. This thing has less power than my cordless 3/8' impact. Will not take off lug nuts, which should be no sweat for any 1/2' drive impact. When you think impact you think this is the tool that will either take it off or break it off. Again this thing can't remove normally torqued lug nuts. Basically this thing just vibrates and makes noise, that's all its good for. Take it to the recycling yard for scrap. Better yet, don't buy it at all. waste of my money. Craftsman has become garbage.
