Great Charger!

I purchased this charger to replace an older Die Hard charger that lasted me over 10 Years. Its a great durable charger and with its options under 200 bucks is well worth it. This charger gets the job done.

Pros and Cons

Since it is manual operation with no percent of battery charge reading, I purchased this item for the 250 amp boost, but to my dismay and in fine print on the bottom front, it says "3 seconds maximum and then wait 240 seconds before trying again." And the 50 amp says "3 minutes maximum and 1 minute off." My guess is that like most other 'economical chargers,' a thermal switch shuts it off from overheating and you will wait until it decides to turn itself back on. Depending on outside temperature, you might get a couple more than 3 seconds of boost.... but you better be fast. Pros: 1.) It is kind of pretty (black and gold) 2.) Has nice clamps 3.) Decent 15 amp maximum continuous charger in a bulky cabinet 4.) 3 year warranty that says to take to any Sears store 5.) Great exercise when alone and trying to use 250 amp boost at 3 second maximum usage. Cons: 1.) 50 amp charging is maximum 3 minutes on, 1 minute off 2.) 250 amp charging is maximum 3 seconds on, 240 seconds (4 minutes) off 3.) No battery charge indicator... are you overcharging 4.) Although no package damage, came with two dents and missing cabinet screws (factory issue) 5.) Clamp wire length is short for most taller pickups. Folks, I cannot and dare anyone else to switch to 250 amps, then get into vehicle and try to start in the maximum 3 seconds as listed in fine print on the front bottom of charger... but no place in item description before purchasing. For my money, the 2-10-50 amp 'automatic' charger on sale at 50% off (just bought two) with the additional 1100 amp portable booster with light, 12v or 110v and air compressor on sale is a better deal all the way around.

Great charger

He totally likes this charger. Used it the second day he got it, and it worked fast and superb. Checked out pricing, of other chargers and their functions, then chose this one.

poor performance

The unit does not respond when connected to terminals. Move clamps around and the needle does not move then put boost on the engine does not turn over even after being connected for 5 minutes. my old charger is better. Poor performance and Sears does not even blink about it.

Great charger

Great battery charger. Has all the cycles that your average shop needs. Both 6 and 12 volts. Several amp settings and the boost/start feature works great!

Great Charger

I've read most of the reviews. I work construction use this on everything from Bobcat to my F350 to garden tractors. Have not found one any better for the price. The leads could be longer but they seem to be the standard for length for chargers across the board. Case is heavy enough to make it solid what else does it need to be? Not using it to stand on. Easy to put together , my 9 year old did it. Charges quickly and the boast works great. Live in Cold Minnesota, batteries take a beating.

Nice Charger

I was happy with this charger when it arrived. The leads could be heavier gauge. Not sure how they will handle 250 amps.

Good bargain on Sale

Bought on sale. Works well... Metal case is a little thin, but it is not a chair. Everything lined up and was very easy to assemble. It replaces my old Sears charger that wore out after only 30 years. It is a good deal when on sale. Does more than most do it yourselfers neet

Diehard Gold Charger

<p>I bought and assembled one of these last night.  Unlike some other reviewers, I found that it was easy to assemble, the holes all lined up. Quality is decent, case is as thick and sturdy as it needs to be.  It probably took about 10 minutes to unpack and have it ready to go.  .</p>
<p>Well, if I discount the time it took to fix one issue.  The four holes for the screws that hold the handle on were not tapped!  They just had small pilot holes and the screws were machine screws (not self-tapping), so I had to get my 8-32 drill/tap out and tap them myself.  If someone didn't have a tap, it would have been a lot bigger issue.  That's why there are only four stars.  Oh, and it could use longer batterry cables and/or power cord.</p>
