Karaoke

Wonderful! The children love it as do adults. The mics are not as loud sounding as my last Karaoke, but for the money, it is a great system. Have fun this this product.

Great screen graphics & external audio output quality

Best karaoke unit I've used w/so many features, too. K-Mart price was unbelievably low! I use my own prof. mike & mixer & amp, but this unit's pre-amp functions could suffice. Only complaint is how discs load/unload, & free MP3 discs are terrible old song classics probably w/o current copyrights!

A Terrific Deal!

This is a great unit from Emerson: has every feature the wannabe singer could ask for..particularly like the Key Changer which is lacking on most of the lower priced players. Also, this is the ROCK BOTTOM lowest price I've seen ANYWHERE..including ******. (I feel lucky to have gotten it!) All the features work well..nice treble/bass control..excellent 25 watt speaker, solid microphones and a sharp 7 inch COLOR screen to read your lyrics from, OR watch a DVD! The echo is perfect! I looked at a ton of different machines and brands, and this is the BEST one in a very affordable price range. I don't use the MP3 features, so I can't comment on them. My last machine was purchased in 1991 and it weighed close to 30 pounds and had dual cassettes!!! Thank God for progress and the portable designs of today. Be sure and read your User's Guide..and you'll have a flawless session!

Won't play CD+G disks - it's junk

This is our second one of these machines since Christmas, and this one, like the first, is going back to Sears for good. Both machines have had the same problem, which is the disk reader struggles to read the CD+G CD's, even the horribly simple ones that it came with.

About 5 minutes into using the original machine on Christmas morning the CD reader began to stuggle and garble the music and lyric display. It got so bad that neither were comprehensible. Skipping to the next track only made it worse, so the day after Christmas we returned it to Sears and got another for my heartbroken daughter.

I wanted to believe that the original machine we purchased was a lemon (the entire line couldn't be this bad, right?), so we exchanged it for another machine of the same model. All seemed OK until day 2 of using the second machine. Same problem, the music and lyrics are garbled, and you can hear the CD reader struggling to operate.

Now I have a $40 CD+G collection that I cannot use and cannot return because it is opened, and a daughter with no karaoke machine to use. We're currently looking for another model and I vow that I will not purchase another Emerson product again

Thanks for the aggravation. Skip this P.O.S. , its pure junk.

wonderfully versatile machine that will provide fun for years!

after reading hundreds of karaoke machine reviews, what i found was that all of them have at least a couple of people who were greatly disappointed with their machine. so in the end i decided to take a gamble with this machine. i got it from Sears at holiday time. i chose to get the three year extended warranty because so many of the reviews said the machines broke down shortly after the warranty expired.

many reviews said that they got it as a gift and it was well received but did not work out of the box so i decided to try it out before wrapping it. (did i mention i bought more than one just in case...?)

it worked. it was easy to figure out. it sounded pretty darn good.

i thought i heard a buzz or a ring or something in the speaker but the second time i tried it i didn't hear it. it could have just been that i had been sitting too close to it..? there was a bit of feedback from sitting right in front of it and reading the lyrics. it was easily remedied.

the cds it came with were terrible! but then again, most of the cdgs i've found are! they were still fun, regardless.

we really like the feature of being able to plug in the ipod and youtube songs to sing along to. sadly, with this feature you can't really show the image on your tv and ipods have tiny screens.

the mics are actually awesome! they pick up subtleties (very sensitive) and are very clear. our karaoke revolution mics for our wii and xbox are terrible so maybe we just have a low bar? i don't think so, though. i like that we can dial down either mic as my five year old has NO restraint!

i guess i lucked out with this one! i can't wait until my daughter discovers that she has her own dvd player now, too!

the only complaint i have is that when we pipe it through the tv/speaker system it still plays through it's own speaker. there is also a lag between the two so it sounds like the beat is off by a nanosecond. it's distracting so we just turned down the master volume knob and we could still hear our voices and the music through the tv/surround sound.

overall, i'd say this machine is extremely versatile and of decent quality. it's fairly easy to use. i love that there are two microphones and that the ipod hooks up to it. MY ipod does not sit well in the cradle- must not be the right model. i really like that the mics have a resting place for when they are not in use- sturdy ones, too! i'd recommend unplugging the mics when the machine isn't in use to minimize the chance of ruining the jacks. i'm very glad i finally took the plunge and chose this one! it does so much and it can be so simple! (we were just singing through it while listening to our stereo! what a blast!).

THIS IS DEFINITELY GREAT FAMILY FUN! the only two things i'd recommend are purchasing a longer cord to attach the ipod so you can read the lyrics but position yourself further from the speaker and if you want to listen to it through head phones and sing with both mics you may want to get a splitter for the headphone jack so that both singers can hear the music.

in case you think this is a bogus review i would like to reassure you that it is not. i just wanted to write a long, comprehensive review to help people who, like me, are tired of trying to figure out which reviews are bogus and who just had a bad experience and needed vent.

my recommendation is that you try it out as soon as you get it to see for yourself how you like it and to avoid disappointment. i'm sure with the sheer volume of these machines being produced that there will be lemons. but this one is a gem as far as i'm concerned!
