Essie's Grow Faster Base works pretty well. I am not an expert and this was my first time purchasing an Essie nail product. I have a really bad habit of biting my nails and I tried another product that said that it would produce significant nail growth. That product was slow acting and I did not really have the patience to sit and let my nails grow.
I did have incentive to wait with this product a little bit longer though since my friend wants to take me to get my nails done when she arrives in June. I was a little bit more patient with this product and that might have played a factor into the product working or seeming to work. I bought this product on May 18th, 2011. I painted my nails, one coat, on that day in the evening. I first applied the polish onto my whole nail trying to cover every bit, from root to tip. Then I ran the polish along the edge of the nail to make the nails grow faster that way as well. I applied another coat on May 23rd, 2011 because I could see that the product was fading a little bit after having been through soap and other daily routines.
This product claims to promote healthy nail growth in 5 days. I'm not quite sure what healthy nail growth is but it does state that healthy nails fall short to their true potential. I believe this is basically saying that the nails take a long time to grow for some people and that they are not living to their true potential of becoming longer. Next, the product says the ingredients in the formula. Those products are argan oil, nail builders, and micro-nutrient rich algae extract. Then on the side it lists the scientific names of the ingredients in the product. I think that this is a break down of the priorly listed ingredients. I did notice that the product does have 2 metal balls inside. I'm not sure what they do or how they help the formula though. Then, the product goes into the promise or the results that the product will bring when used. It tells the cutsomer that the product was tested under clincal conditions. I'm not sure what clinical conditions these were so they might have used the product on animals for testing. Their promise is to grow longer nails in 3 days, see up to 27% growth in 5 days, and allows the nails to grow to full potential. The polish is also pretty quick at drying.
As for what I have seen regarding results, all the promises seem to hold true. I noticed that my nails did grow faster than when I did not have the product on. I just noticed that this is the 5th day in the treatment and my nails have grown significantly. My boyfriend and family have even commented that my nails are looking beautiful and longer. As to growing to their full potential, this promise is still in the process. The treatment works in 5 days but if your nails are really short then extending the treatment is best. I am going to extend my treatment since I would like my nails to be longer than they are now.
Others that have used this product have said that their nails broke while using this product. I looked up other reviews before beginning the process. This lead me to believe that their nails were already past their skin and pretty long to begin with. I believe this product is best suited for people whose nails are short and not past that point. After the nails pass that point and do become weak since they have not grown past that point before, then the other base that Essie provides could be used to help build the nails stronger.
