This set is great, but don't break the glass top!

We had a teenage girl assemble the table and chairs and she did a great, quick job of it. However, although I read the instructions that said do not tip umbrella when putting it in and and taking it out of the hole in the middle of the table (because you might break the glass) - I tipped the umbrella when pulling it out of the whole. Glass broke (safely). But now I have to buy the whole set again if I want to get new glass for the table. And local glass cutter charges $400 to cut glass for the table top. Don't know what I'll do, but for sure I'll be careful (and get someone to help me) when I try to move the umbrella next time.

dangerous

We LOVED this set when we first received it. It really fit in with the overall look of our home and gave us a new way to enjoy our expansive patio. We barely had it a month when we heard an enormous crash (today). We looked out the window, and the table had shattered. I guess a gust of wind had tipped it. There really wasn't any other reason for it. To add injury to insult (yes, I phrased that correctly), the glass wasn't tempered, which means that one of my kids was cut on a shard of broken glass even after we'd thought we had gotten it all cleaned up. Be careful if you purchase this. It's not safe, and Sears will NOT stand behind it.

Good-looking Set

The set arrived last Friday, 5/3, in two large boxes, on the scheduled day and within the delivery time window. Chair assembly was very easy, though time-consuming for one person. Another person would not have helped here because of the cramped location of two of the chair's four bolts. All bolt holes lined up but I still took the advice of others here and left them loose until all four were started. Chairs look good and are very comfortable. My wife helped me assemble the table, and here help was needed. It would have taken longer for me alone and even then it would have been an aggravating struggle. However, result is a nice, large table that feels very sturdy. Some small scratches were evident, but I called the company today and they are sending some touch-up paint for this set, free of charge, via FedEx.The finished set is much nicer than the price would indicate.

Purchase Rating

We are very pleased with our Dining Set. We have set it up in our recently remodeled four-season room. The set seems very well made and should last a number of years. We assembled it ourselves without too much difficulty. We were able to purchase set at a very reasonable cost, and we compared Sears product to several other stores. Much better quality for far less price. Thank You

Don't Buy this Set

This set looked beautiful when we bought it, but after just 2 seasons of use, the chairs are coming apart and the paint is peeling in sheets. I contacted both Sears and the Vender, Nu Mark only to find out that the paint is under warranty for 1 year (aka 1 season as this is a patio set) - so plan on the paint coming off after little use. Also the Frame of the chair where the chair arms and back of the chair meet are coming apart. Frame is warrantied for 5 years, but guess what - you pay shipping and handling which means you pay for a new chair. Nu Mark Vender charges nearly $22/chair to send you a new one. So, my advice - Don't buy this product. It looks great, but looks are deceiving in this case.

Very nice patio set

We are quite pleased with the set, but assembly of the chairs was more difficult than necessary. After spending an inordinate amount of time on the first, following the provided directions exactly, I began to experiment and found that doing exactly the opposite worked FAR better. Aligning the bolts into the arms is the tricky part, so I did it first (only loosely), then the lower bolts, then tighten everything. By the sixth chair, it took only a few minutes. So, good item, poor instructions.

I Like It

Haven't really gotten to use it. Assembly was a little more difficult than I would have liked.

Rusted out in 2 years

This set was good the first year, then by the end of the second summer it was rusted out. Though advertised as all aluminum it has a steel bar and screws that support the seat. This has rusted out, and although it's still under warranty, neither Sears, or Numark Industries has been helpful at providing new parts.

Beautiful patio set

My husband and I were very pleased with the quality of the Grandview dining set. My husband is a tall man, the high backs are comfortable for both of us. Also being a big man we needed a set that could support his weight. We haven't used the set because of the weather. But as appearance and structure we are very happy. Looking forward to relaxing with this on our lake retreat. We only had one problem, one of the chair bases was worped. Call and received a new base within 3-4 days.

Great for price

Product looks good. Difficulty assembling chairs--advice by previous raters helped. We love it. Chairs are very comfortable. Recommend to those looking for quality at a reasonable price.

Great seating for 6 - set purchased in July 2012 (NJ)

We've been looking for a patio set that seats more than the 4 person set we had.  When I saw this one I was thrilled because it was six sided..meaning it would not take up alot of space. I have a large deck but we have other furniture already on it. Best of all, it was on sale and I found another Sears coupon online!   Like some of the other reviews...table was a bit of a challenge to put together, chairs pretty easy. I put those together by myself.  I ordered umbrella and stand too.  Stand is already rusting,,we returned umbrella and found one with led lights for less $$.  Love the set though.  Chairs are easy to clean and comfortable and best of all, it seats 6 people comfortably.  Only thing I downgraded it for was the welding at all of the joints.. pretty sloppy!  Also, after the first good rain, I went to move one of the chairs and a thin stream of water starting to squirt out of one of the joints at the base of the chair.  I found this with 2 or 3 of them. I hope this doesn't mean they will rust from the inside out.  All in all, pretty nice set!

Great basic patio set, good value, easy to assemble

I like that this set provides table room and seating for six people at the price of many four-top patio sets. The glass tabletop has a pretty design in it. I like the sleek design of the chair legs which will be easy to clean. My whole family likes that the chairs gently bounce when pushing off against the ground with your feet. (The instructions actually call them "action chairs"!)

I did not find them particularly hard to assemble by myself, although the written instructions fail to mention that the metal bar on the underside of the fabric seat piece swings 90 degrees to allow you to insert the bolt and washer, then you need to swing it down to match the holes up with the chair base. Once I figured that out, assembly was fairly simple. The provided allen wrench to tighten the bolts under the seat wasn't great and it was easier to use a "real" tool from my own toolbox.  The table was a piece of cake to assemble.

The boxes are quite large. (All the table pieces come in one box and all the chair pieces in another.)  I was able to fit them in the back of a Honda Odyssey mini-van but had to fold down the middle seats, so don't bring more than one passenger to the store-pickup with you!

Garden Oasis set is pretty & a good value

Set was even prettier once I got it together - not quite as easy as it is made out to be, but a great looking set, comfortable, easy to clean & dries really fast for easy use after any weather and a great value - believe me I shopped around!
