Description Specifications
The GE® GDT580SGFWW dishwasher with a stainless steel interior and hidden controls was designed to be a big help in your kitchen. Thanks to GE’s most advanced wash system, you can count on consistently clean and dry dishes with every load. A steam prewash option helps to loosen tough, baked-on food so you can skip any soaking or pre-rinsing.
GE’s Piranha™ hard-food disposer with removable filter helps ensure thorough cleaning. So do the three pressurized, full-coverage wash arms and dedicated silverware jets. Even the racks are designed for optimum cleaning, with multi-position, fold-down, ball-tip tines and height adjustments that accommodate even the largest pots, pans and platters and hold everything—even delicate stemware—securely in place.
This white GE GDT580SGF dishwasher looks great inside and out. The bright, stainless steel interior is attractive and rugged, ensuring long-lasting durability. The hidden electronic controls provide a sleek appearance, and with cabinet-depth installation, you get a flush facing design that complements the surrounding cabinetry.
This dishwasher is quiet, so quiet you may forget it’s running until an audible end-of-cycle signal tells you otherwise. A clever 1- to 12-hour delay start function lets you wash the dishes at your convenience.

  • Full stainless steel interior provides an attractive appearance and long-lasting durability

Excellent cleaning--so quiet

We've had this dishwasher for a couple of months and could not be happier. In combination with the Cascade Complete packets, our dishes have been coming out spotless. You can really only hear it running when the water discharges. The features that skewed our buying decision vs. the comparably priced Kenmore (and other brands) were the top rack roller bearings, the break-apart silverware basket (which comes in handy when you only have a few utensils but several large pots), and two rows of lay-flat tines on the bottom rack (also helpful when washing large pots). The dry cycle does an admirable job, leaving water pooled only on the dishes/cups with deeper rims--and frankly you'd need a serious air blower to get rid of that water. Due to the dark baskets, the tub looks somewhat smaller than the other brands, but we measured it at the store. It's actually slightly larger, so it's just an optical illusion.

Those benefits were not conditioned on the positive or negative content of the review.

Great performer and price point

|

I compared ratings on Consumer Reports with reviews on Sears and other retailers to decide how much to spend and which model to choose. I basically wanted the best performer without adding features and capability I didn't need along with a proven record. This model has proven itself for five months in our home, running every two or three days.

Some have complained about the lower rack, it is loose but doesn't cause us any trouble. Washes and rinses clean with no rinse aid. We've used both Cascade powder and Finish Powerballs with great results. Dries well too, although sometimes plastic stuff will stay wet, which I suspect is inevitable. Quiet. Cycle takes a while, but that's not a problem, you can even program it to run overnight.

It took a while to sort through the options and brands, so very glad this has proved to be an excellent purchase. Highly recommended.

We looked at about a dozen dishwashers and settled on the GE elite.
Very pleased with it so far-(about 10 days).
