Electric Range-Good Buy

Good Electric Range. A few small quirks. There should have been a light for each burner and the common burner light. Old one about 20 yrs old had it. Clock display is bad when you see 1:15 which looks like C15. Couldn't the engineers design the colon a bit smaller and near to each other? What gives? So far I had this for a month and it is working fine. Elements heat pretty fast.

Terrible "new oven" smell

We purchased this range and it is going back. The initial odor was terrible (burning/chemical). A technician came out, stated the smell was insulation or oven coating, but had no suggestion. GE suggested we run the self-cleaning cycle, which drove us out of the house and left our kitchen smelling for 3 days. The smell was still there. GE suggested we need to run the self-cleaning cycle 4-5 more times and then the odor will go away. I'm very disappointed.

Good no frills range

|

Nice product for the price. The only disappointment was I was expecting to get delayed start or programmable oven start time. The features list and description is not clear. I down loaded and looked at the manual and the manual covers most of GE models. It appeared to me all their stoves had this feature. This one does not. I seldom use this feature but would be nice just in case.

Great basic coil range

|

Coils are a little shake, but very quick to heat up and the oven slow to preheat.

What we Wanted it to Be

|

Very pleased. It does everything we wanted. Never saw the range until we opened the box since it was ordered on line. Had we seen it we would have noticed its high gloss that shows fingerprints and might have chosen another color. Can't blame the range for its color...it cooks great.

My new GE stove

|

Only had this stove a couple of weeks but so far very pleased. I would recommend to family & friends. Nice big oven window. Temps seem to be right on. Easy to operate controls.

30" freestanding range

|

I bought this in June and have no problems with it. That has been 5 months ago. My wife loves the large oven door. She uses it every day as she likes to cook. When it is time to buy another one I will buy this product again. Altho I dont expect to buy another one for a few years. The last one lasted for about 15 years. This is a good range.

GE Range

|

Nice looking range. The two small coils do not lie level, so they rock back and forth when there are any pans on them. Not a good feature. Am trading this range back for a Frigidaire with all the same features, except the Frigidaire has a time bake feature that the GE does not. Oven temperature doesn't seem quite hot enough. Foods baked don't get done on the bottom, nor do they brown quite as nicely on the top. Otherwise, nice clean range, functional.

Nice overall..

|

This is a very nice looking stove, love the stainless steel, oven is nice and roomy. The only thing that I don't like, and I knew it before I bought it, is the shiny black top. If you are picky about things not only being clean but LOOKING clean as well, this will drive you crazy! When I wipe it with glass cleaner, it streaks. When I wipe it with a wet rag, it streaks. The only thing I've figured out to do is wipe it with a microfiber cloth while the top is a little damp, and wipe until it's completely dry. I can eventually get rid of most of the streaks and smears. Overall, I would buy it again, but it is a higher maintenance range than I had, just because of the shiny black top.

Works great, but I miss dials

|

Since this oven was recommended by **************** and other entities, we bought it and brought it home. Oh, how I wish I'd tested it in the store! Where my decades-old oven had dials so I could immediately set my timers and oven temperature, this has push buttons. To set the oven to 500 I have to start it, then push the + button 30 times. To set the timer I have to push + for each minute, or each 10 minute increment, or (most likely) accidentally increment 10 minutes and then have to minus. Is this what technology has brought us to--wistful longing for outdated technology? Temperature seems fine, and it hasn't broken or anything, so the range works, but I miss my old oven and the time it saved me.
