Great dryer for compact space.

I purchased this dryer with its matching washer (WCVH4800KWW) and a stacking unit. I believe this washer and dryer are the only front loading unit that is 23.5 inches in width. I've used it for 3 weeks now, and they both work great and very quiet. I wish the door for the washer and dryer is made of glass instead of hard plastic, but I'm glad with my purchase.

Very nice looking appliance.

Fit perfectly, along with matching washer, into my smaller space. No pedestals available for this dryer but it's not a problem right now for me. Wish it had a little longer cool-down time so things wouldn't wrinkle, but still not bad.

Good overall, has it quirks.

Overall, I really like this dryer. It is rather efficient and quiet. Needless to say, there aren't that many "urban" sized models (originally I wanted to get another brand/model, but it wouldn't fit in my laundry niche. The only complaints I have are: 1. When set to default "Dry", items are still slightly damp. 2. Large items (like fitted sheets) tend to wrap around the rest of the load resulting in the need to pull the load out and reload several times. Hard to tell if that's due to the size of the drum, rate of rotation, or something else. Anyway, once again, overall I am quite happy with this dryer.

Ecomonical and great for small homes / spaces

I purchased the GE 4.0 combo washer/dryer for the main purpose of limited space. My house is approximately 750 square feet total and the washer/dryer hook-up is located in my kitchen. Prior to purchasing, I had a top-end loader washer and dryer and both took up quite a bit of living space. This unit is small enough to fit in the corner of the kitchen - yet handle my weekly laundry. So far, I've been extremely pleased with the quality and performance. Keep in mind, it is designed for smaller loads and the run-time is more on the longer side. However, as a single household - it handles my needs very well. I highly recommend.

Does not heat well

This product is typical of poorer GE quality. The drum was an out of box failure and needed to be replaced immediately since it made a thumping noise that could not be fixed. Separately, there is just not enough heat to dry clothes -- no matter how high you set the machine the clothes essentially dry by tumbling for 1.5 hours. Towels come out wet and need to hang to dry

Great Dryer for Small Spaces and families

Purchased this with the matching washer to stack. I researched before my purchase and thought this seemed like the best option for small spaces, and so far I'm really happy with its performance. Doesn't over dry clothing and has great features and quality.

Very Nice

We have an older home that only had enough room for a small stacked unit. We really wanted a front load washer and dryer with a small footprint but with all the features and higher quality than the typical combined/stacked apartment unit (that was already in our home when we bought it). There are a wide variety of settings which is very nice, and the lint trap is right up front. We've noticed a dramatic decrease in the amount of lint compared to our past dryer, which means this dryer doesn't beat our clothes up. The other reviewer that said this dryer rolls all your clothes into a ball is partially correct. It is a smaller unit so you can't expect to fit the same amount of clothes as larger dryers. That said, it DOES roll larger items like sheet sets and blankets into a ball if they are packed in with clothes. But that has only happened a couple times to us. No big deal. One minor annoyance is that the doors to the washer and dryer open up on opposite sides. The washer door is hinged on the left and the dryer on the right, which in a small, tight hallway (like ours) it's slightly inconvenience to dance between the two open doors, but they both open very wide which helps. It would be a better design to have them hinged on the same side. But that is a very small negative.

Drys very well,when following instructions.

Very nice dryer. We do not use fabric softener . No-iron shirts come out very well. The machine does what it is supposed to do ,IF you follow instructions .

Terrible

This dryer rolls all your clothes into a ball, so that the inner clothing remains wet. I have had to rearrange the clothing every 10 mins. in order to get everything dry! This has caused a much longer drying time and much more work for me.
