I really love the Holmes dual window fan! I bought one for my kitchen window to help cool the kitchen and remove heat. I like the two fans and the ability to set each fan individually! I often set one of the fan on exhaust to help move warm air out of my kitchen while the other fan provides a cool breeze. The unit installs very easily in the window. A panel stored inside the unit folds out to cover any remaining space between the fan and the side of the window opening so the fan fits snugly.I live in a hot climate and love to use this fan to save on my electric bills in the fall and spring. It is very economical, provides great cooling, and is very efficient. You can set each fan and the unit to provide exactly the type of cooling and air flow that you need!Note: After writing my review, I realized that the model I have includes a thermostat and individual settings for each side/fan. I believe that my model is now the most readily available and popular model of the Holmes Dual Fan, judging by the other comments here. I haven't seen the stripped-down model (without the dual controls and thermostat) in the stores.
Fan DOES NOT have thermostat as described. Fan IS NOT reversible. You have to remove it from the window, turn it around. There IS NO remote control. There is only ONE extension panel not two as advertised. (Does not fit standard window.)What I received is a nice simple little fan, but definitely NOT WHAT IS ADVERTISED. Base part of model number matches, but they have substituted another product.
This powerful window fan takes out any smoke from the kitchen and exhausts it outside. The best thing we ever put into our kitchen. It is an economical way to resolve cooking smoke and fumes in kitchen without installing an overhead vent.
Nice fan, not too loud but what I miss is there is no legs under it to stand alone if I didnt want to put it in the window.
It works well, very cooling, best when you have one on one side of house pulling in air and one on the opposite side of the house expelling the hot air out.

Kmart sells another brand of fan in the store (Hyannis, MA) that looks almost exactly like this for the same price but it has extensions on both sides. If you read the box it tells you it is manually reversible and it cannot have one fan blow in a different direction than the other. It is almost all plastic and made in China, of course. And it does have feet to add to it if you want to use it somewhere other than in the window. But it is quiet, probably because the fan isn't super strong. It might draw more air in if I didn't keep the window screen down at the same time, but I don't want bugs coming in with the outside air. For this reason the expandable wings on both sides are really there to help ensure air is flowing only in the direction you want it to and the wings don't have to be perfectly tight against the window casing to seal against insects. It only takes a few seconds to place it in the window or to remove it, which is what I have to do to close the window for security while away. If, like me, you want a cheap fan to draw in the cooler outside air at night, this works fine. I consider it good for the price but of course if you want to spend more you can get more features.

We purchased this little fan unit for our back Florida room to keep the air circulating a little better during the warmer seasons and it has worked fantastically for us! It blows in/out lots of air, does what it was intended to do and the only complaint we have is that you have to be careful with the plastic sides when closing it in the window as it is easy to chip.
good fan for windows
Price is great. Easy to install and use. Cuts down on air conditioning cost.

Lightweight and easy to take in and out of your window. Just turn it around for exhaust mode. Can't beat the price on this very practical window fan.

This fan is a waste of money. First of all, it is not reversible. You have to take it out of the window and turn it around if you want to change the air direction. Also you can not have one fan blow out and one fan blow in. It's all or nothing. It's also smaller than similar fans of this type. Another cost cutting "feature" of the fan is there is only an extention on one side. Every other fan I've seen like this has had a extention on both sides so you can center the fan in a larger window. Not this one. Do yourself a favor and spend a couple of dollars more and get a better fan. This one sucks, but not in a good way.

I bought one two summers ago and absolutely loved it so much that I bought another last summer. This fan has an ajustable side so it fits in any of my windows. What I like most about the fan is how well it circulates the air.

I have an air conditioner but I like fresh air better, the fans work so well, moving the air around, they keep my house cool and fresh.I have recommended the fan to all my family and friends. It has two speed settings low and high, and the only time I have to use the high setting is when we have high humidity, the fan has saved money on my electric bill because the only time I have to run my air conditioner is when it is opressive.

I used one of these, very reasonably priced, fans, for several years, constantly. It performed above expectations.

I bought this fan for my college dorm room, which lacks air conditioning. Unfortunately, it's nothing to write home about. The fan sits in the window, which is nice, but it doesn't have the strongest circulation power. I'm lucky I stuck it right behind my desk; that means it blows directly on me. Otherwise, I get more benefit from my palm-sized clip-on fan. :\

The Holmes Twin Window Fan has a lot to offer for a small price--it's small enough to fit in even the narrowest windows, cools down a room in just minutes, and the best part is you don't even notice it's on! I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a smaller sized fan. It works great and we are so glad we bought it this summer--100 degree heat is miserable without one!

Bought this fan a few years back. Was misleading when said it's 'reversable'. Technically it is but you have to manually take it out of the window and reverse it which is such a pain in the rear. Ended up throwing it away and spending the extra $25 for a better fan with multiple speeds and reversable with a simple switch. I DO NOT recommend this fan at all.

I had one of these fans a couple of years ago and when I placed this fan in my window at night there wass no need to use the air conditioner and three we saved a lot of money. So when we use the holmes window fan we not only save on the product itself butt we savee on our energy bill.

tHIS FAN IS A GOOD PRODUCT FOR THE PRICE, BUT, DONT BE FOOLED WITH THE INFORMATION PRINTED SAYING THAT IT IS REMOTE CONTROLLED.THERE IS NO REMOTE CONTROL WITH THIS FAN, AND NO MENTION OF A REMOTE IN THE INSTRUCTION SHEET. ALSO THE FANS ARE ONLY 7 INCHS AND TO REVERSE THE FAN YOU MUST MANUALLY TURN IT AROUND. THERE IS ONLY ONE EXTENSION PANEL, NOT TWO AS STATED. THESE FANS REALLY DO MOVE THE AIR AROUND NICELY, BUT IF YOU WANT A GOOD QUALITY LONG LASTING FAN THAT YOU CAN REALLY CONTROL LOOK AT THE SEAR WINDOW FAN. A FEW BUCKS MORE, BUT A LOT MORE QUALITY FOR THE PRICE.
