It seemed like, rather than a lot of problems with their cheaper, smaller chest models, reviews favored this larger, more proportionately expensive unit. After westling it downstairs and into my storeroom, I plugged it in, and silence... The light and power leds worked, but no compressor action. The local store was good about offering to replace it with another, and will deliver and install the second one and haul the dud off, but I'm wondering what I'll get this time. Wonder if I can get 'em to sell me the 5 year service contract on unit #2? I'll post if it dies a premature death.

So far so good. Easy to install and was to proper temperature in a few min

Bought this to hold half a beef. Dividers made it real nice to segregate the different cuts of meat with room to spare for half hog we have on the way.

Excellent Product

|

This freezer was a great buy. After plugging it in and turning it on, it began to cool and freeze within a few hours. I was able to put food into it in a short amount of time and the food froze quickly as well. I also greatly like having the separators that it comes with. It makes finding food a lot faster since you can organize the food you put in and it does not all blend together or move around when you pull something out.

14.8 cu. ft. Chest Freezer 1654

The freezer is very quiet. It freezes fast. The freezer is just the right size--not too big and not too small.

!!!!!FREEZER LASTED 15 MONTHS TOTAL!!!!!

|

I purchased this freezer under the impression that it was somewhat of a failsafe unit judging from all the positive reviews, well not so much in my case! I keep this freezer in our basement which is a controlled 55-65 degrees year round and humidity free, I even ran a dedicated recep. from my breaker panel to certify no faults in amperage.

I purchased this unit in Feb. 2013 and it died in mid May 2014, what a disappointment in over 400 dollars spent on what appeared to be a quality unit. I also lost 800-1000 dollars in steaks, seafood, venison, etc. Shame on me in trusting one dedicated unit. I will never by a chest freezer without a temp sensor or at least running my own sensor from now on.

I tried unplugging the unit, for a defrost reset but it produced nothing, side of the freezer where the vent louver is for the compressor and pump reaches about 170 degrees and warms the internals of the freezer which will only maintain a temp of 46-47 degrees.

I would advise doing a bit more research before you buy this freezer, or for once actually buy the extended coverage.

excellent

I have always preferred a chest freezer. This had dividers included so food items could be stored and retrieved separately . Trays would allow better removal of items also. A power light was on top of freezer.

Love it love it love it

|

I love the convenience of the tray to slide side to side for the bigger things down below and the light is great. Never had this option before and helps define spaces when I want to put an odd shape in a spot for easy access later on. I had a smaller unit and have seen no change in cost for the operation as well this is almost twice that size. We have a big garden hunt and fish so always something to store.

First New Freezer In 28 Years!

|

I purchased this freezer and an upright one too to replace a large chest freezer that we bought from Sears in Alaska 28 years ago. This freezer was still running, but had received quite a lot of abuse when it was shipped to Pa. and the seal was damaged on the lid. I had decided to purchase a small chest and an upright, so I could keep everything organized better and find what I wanted easier. I am very happy with my purchases and can now find what I need easily!

Meets our needs

|

We're very happy with this chest freezer - it's fairly basic, but I don't really know what else is needed; it's a chest freezer. The provided plastic dividers and storage baskets do the trick. The plastic baskets are strong enough to prevent sagging even if loaded up with heavy items.

The freezer itself is about as loud as I would expect. If you're within ~15 feet you can definitely hear the compressor. The biggest surprise for us was the efficiency of the unit - we have an instantaneous display of electricity consumption in our house thanks to the smart meter, and it barely moves when the freezer is running.

Overall I would definitely recommend this unit.
