Kenmore 16.7 cu. ft. Upright Freezer (2872)

This freezer is a great product.   It has just the right amount of room to allow you to take advantage of bargains, and any bulk shopping you want to do.  There is also room for some summer produce.

I was worried about picking out a freezer for my mother, but I did my homework and this appeared to be a great value!  My mom has ZERO complaints!  (Perhaps a first.)

First, the delivery team was really impressive.  They did everything to my mom's high standards, taking out the old freezer, allowing my son and her to clean underneath, and bringing in the new.  She gave glowing reviews of their professionalism and cleanliness.  Such glowing remarks do not come easily.

Next the freezer is a great size and it is whisper quiet.  We have to listen to hear it.  It seals perfectly and things freeze quickly.  She loves the way the door compartments are adjustable (and so do I).  And having the "soft-freeze" compartment for the ice cream is important to my dad.

We have now had it for several months.   Even though it is manual defrost, there is really no frost building up.  The seal must be seated on their perfectly.    We love it.

I'm not sure if they've changed the design since we bought ours about five years ago.  Ours looks the same.

It keeps cool, but the seal is so bad that it leaks the Houston humidity in and freezes next to the door seals.  If we don't open it every week, it's frozen solid around the door and requires enough strength to open that it rips the seals a little more.  Inside the quality is also lacking since the shelves on the bottom have all fallen due to the inside dimensions changing (walls somehow got wider).  These are pretty serious issues for a simple freezer.  I expected more from Kenmore.
