Noisy and doesn't freeze

We've had this refrigerator since Dec. 2012. It's very noisy. The worst is this strange and loud "whoooooop" sound. The Sears service tech says it's refrigerant moving in the lines and they all make the sound. In other words, it's normal. The really bad part of this model, though, is the freezer. It simply will not get down to 0�. Ice cream will remain soft and never harden. This model has a single temperature control for both the fresh food and the freezer. If you turn it all the way to 5, fresh food below will get icy, but the freezer will still never reach 0. It will always hover between 5 and 10 degrees. It's just a very poor design.Avoid this model, and any other refrigerator with a single temperature control.

Do Not Buy

My wife and I bought this refrigerator on line, at the recommended setting it was not cold enough would not even freeze bread. Called and they sent out a tech he found what I said to be true, said the thermostat was not calibrated right and ordered a new one, when we got it they came and installed new one. Second frig Still not cooling right, called again and asked for replacement. Not cooling right (bread still not frozen). Now we are returning it and will be shopping else where.

Excellent Refrigerator for the Buck

This 21 cu ft Kenmore Top Freezer (Model 6215* - No frills, No Ice Maker, No...But Energy Star Rated) replaced our 10 yr old Side by Side 22 cuft Kenmore that contained all the Frills. If you can live w/out the FRILLs, the Energy Star folks mentioned you will be better off cost wise and energy usage wise. For Ice maker...get 6 ice trays running all the same time. We went thru 2 Ice Makers in my old Kenmore Side by Side and spend atleast $90 a yr on the PUR Filters...you are better off getting a Brita and bottled water in the fridge rather than going w/ the filtered water option. Runs VERY Quiet & Efficiently (as most mentioned in the Reviews). However took over 12 hrs for it to come to operating temps due to our humidity. By the way...invest in a Fridge Thermostat to check on temps...if doesn't operate as intended then have it serviced under the warranty & have them tweek your system. I have 4 kids and wife and still have PLENTY ROOM to spare.

Large Freezer Compartment

I bought this item because of the larger freezer compartment. On 18 cu ft. models the freezers are very small so I wanted a little larger size. Runs quiet, looks nice and the price after the discounts were reasonable. My main issue is there is only one temperature control for both the refrigerator and freezer sections. I worry that will be a problem somewhere down the line. The user guide doesn't even mention that as its the same guide for multiple fridges. Also, the temp control and light hang low and is situated right in the middle which makes putting soda bottles, etc. on the top shelf a nuisance as your always hitting them. Otherwise it seems like a nice sized product.

doesn't freeze even at coldest setting

Even at the lowest setting, I can't freeze ice cream in the freezer yet lettuce freezes in the refrigerator section at that setting! Horrible product. Need separate controls in freezer and refrigerator.

A wonderful birthday surprise but not what I would have picked

I do not like the position of the freezer rack nor the size of the fruit drawer.

Helpful buying tip

If you haven?t bought a refrigerator yet but have one in mind make sure you have the salesman plug it in and then turn the thermostat to it?s coldest setting. Then listen for how much noise the compressor makes. You?d be surprised at how loud some units are - particularly Kenmore refrigerators which are very noisy. I decided to buy a comparable Maytag instead. Listening is believing.

Replacement Frig

This replaced a similar model purchased in 2007. Can't get use to this one as it is shorter and wider than the one it replaced. Can't find a good place for the gallon jugs to fit in the door. Economically it was the best deal available from various stores researched.

Great fridge, does the job, I would recommend this one! It is basic but all you really need. It is dependable and reliable!

It's a little dark on the inside and it's not as cold as it should be in the refrigerator, on the recommended setting.

Good bang for the buck

The look is pretty good. The freezer space is okay. It could use a shelf for the ice trays. The water in Rockland county is not great so I didn't want to use the automatice ice maker. Overrall it is a pretty good refrig.

Nice Refrigerator

First off, a disclaimer of sorts: this refrigerator was purchased as a back-up to replace a 10+ year old, cheap GE product that came with the house. In that capacity it has met or exceeded expectations so far. Quiet, plenty of room for its intended purpose, and runs efficiently. The price was very good (purchased during the President's Day sale) and the delivery people were on time and very nice.
