excellent value for the money

This dishwasher was easy to install for an average DYI person. We love how clean the lines are, and how nice the inside stainless steel tub looks. The machine is amazingly quiet - we frequently are not aware it's even running (thank goodness for the blue light). In addition, it cleans the dishes really well. The manual filter is easy to clean. Would highly recommend this produce to anyone.

All is well until pump falls off and floods your kitchen

I liked the dishwasher for the first two years. Then one evening, the pump fell off on the outlet side and flooded the kitchen. The water ran down between the floor joists and unto the ceiling of the finished basement, and ran out of the light fixtures!

I pulled the dishwasher to find that the hose clamps between the pump and dishwasher are crimp style, and cannot be tightened further. To make matters worse, the pump is suspended from a tiny rubber dumb-bell, presumably for quiet operation. The problem with this is the attachment is designed incorrectly, and it falls out, allowing the pump to be only supported by the inlet and outlet hoses, which as I said, cannot be tightened. Over time, due to the pump starting and stopping, it apparently can work loose. In my case, it pumped water all over the wood kitchen floors and into the ceiling of a finished basement. Thank goodness we only run the diswasher when we are at home. Even so, it caused a lot of damage before my wife caught it.

I fixed it by wiring the pump into position so it did not have to rely on the little rubber dumbell to support the pump assembly. Terrible design, and potentially, all of these could work themselves off over time and cause significant damage. The worst part, is that 15 cents worth of wire can fix the problem, but how many people will know to do that? My wife was ready to call sears and have a new dishwasher delivered. Nothing wrong with this one other than cheap/poor design on Kenmore's part. Makes me wonder what will break next. I'd never buy another Kenmore product, and would suggest you never leave home with the dishwasher running.

Excellent dishwasher with lots of nice features.

I'm a big fan of Kenmore products and when my piece of junk Frigidaire dishwasher wasn't working right, if ever, I replaced it with this unit. The install was very easy. I really like the stainless steel tub, it looks so much nicer and is more durable too. There is a ton of room to put dishes in and plenty of room for utensils. I like how the top rack does not have the sprayer in the middle like the old ones. There is so much room that sometimes I run out of dishes and it still isn't full. This unit is extremely quiet and cleans fairly well, I have only used "smart wash" so far, it takes a few hours but apparently uses very little water or power. There is a one hour option on there, plus a 4 hour delay option which is great for the hot summer days when you want the dishwasher to run later in the night. I have been very happy with this product.

Unbelievable

Silence. Turned it on for the first time and heard nothing. Figured there was something wrong with the machine or we had done something wrong. Did not open the machine until the next morning. The dishes were spotless. Love this dishwasher.

the good, the bad and the disappointing

On the good side, it is very nice looking, water conserving and incredibly quiet. The tub seems to be built lower to give more space to the upper rack. I use a lot of insulated mugs and they fit on the top rack for the first time. All my plastic ware stays in place and doesn't get upended and filled with dirty water on the upper rack. The filter is located near the front for easy reach. Despite 2-hour wash cycles, it is energy and water efficient.
However, the door is so tight, my husband who is disabled can't open it. The silverware rack comes with some kind of utensil separator, which is difficult to load and unload because you have to touch the eating surface to unload it. Only my spoons and forks fit anyway. I no longer use it. The spray nozzles don't hit the long, tall cooking spoons because they are blocked by the other plates and bowls, so little spray gets on them to clean them. Because it is so water efficient, I don't know if any hot water is used in the wash cycle. When I use the Smart Wash and Normal wash cycles my glasses have a wonderful mist on them (even with heated dry setting), so I have to towel dry everything on the top rack especially if it is glass. These two cycles can take up to 2 hours to clean your dishes. Unfortunately I only use it every other day or so, it took me a while to try out the different cycles and with food sitting there, that could contribute to the dishes not getting completely clean. But even "fresh" dirty dishes don't always get clean.
Now that I have given it this test-"wash", the return period is long gone and I am now stuck with a dishwasher that I will have to maybe half-load to start washing everyday to maybe get my dishes cleaner. Next time I will look at reviews BEFORE going to the store so I will have a better idea what to look at and make a better decision.

Beautiful and Works nicely

This is a beautiful dishwasher and it really works very well. The only thing I have a slight issue with is how stiff the door is to open and close.

Plastic parts break easily

Very Quiet, quick to sell and install. However, the top rack keeps falling out because there is only a small plastic tab holding it in place and it is to thin and flexible to do the job. What ever happen to sears quality? Only had for a week and ready to return this hunk of junk.

Weak upper rack

Bought this in May of 2012. While it does a nice job getting the dishes clean and it is much quieter than our old one, the upper rack is not as sturdy as the old one. It's been wobbly from the start and comes off the track on the left side frequently. After reading several reviews, it appears that this has been an issue with several users.

Love this Dishwasher!

We replaced our 10 yr Kenmore, cheap version. THis upgrade was fantastic. This machine is quite and cleans very well. Dishes come out perfect. This was a great purchase for our family. I would recommend this DW over the cheaper versions any day!

Great Unit

Have had it for about 9 months now. We are very satisfied. It is quiet, does a great job cleaning everything, and is very user friendly. You can adjust the top rack as needed. It has several fancy run options, we just use the basic clean and dry cycle. It does run for a while, but so quiet it doesn't matter

Good and bad

The dishwasher looks good but I have not used it yet. My husband had installed it and I started to place dishes inside when I noted a dent damaged spot all the way in the back. We had to remove and return the dishwasher. Sears was great about it,but still a hustle. Ordered the same one, without dent!

My Mom adores it

I bought this dishwasher for my mother. She loves it! The stainless steel tub was a must have for me, for her. It runs quietly and cleans
well.

Washes well and quiet, but a couple issues.

Have had this dishwasher for about a year and have been happy with the quietness and the ability to wash. However, there is a problem with the upper rack. The rack is a rather loose fit and the left side rail pops out of the wheel assembly if you're not super careful when pulling or pushing the rack. It has actually fallen three times and broken dishes. Well, a few weeks ago it stopped draining, so I had the repair guy come out. He said the pump is fine and he cleaned out the drain in the wall, He said the wall drain is clogging. Well, it now drains sometimes, but not all the time. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now and I'm going to reroute the drain hose to the disposal to see if that fixes the problem. While he was here though, he also replaced the left side rail assembly for the top rack. Well, now it's worse. It tries to pop out almost every time I pull the rack out. I'm a bit disappointed in the quality of the new appliances in general. Hope it gets better!

Kenmore Dishwasher

We are so pleased with our new dishwasher. It is so much quieter and cleans very well. Our old one was quite old and so loud, we could not watch TV in the living room without turning up the volume.

Love it!

We bought this machine about a week ago. It is much quieter than our old dishwasher. The normal cycle takes under 2 hours with no dry cycle selected and things come out very clean. When using the 1 hour cycle option I've found some gummy white residue that takes a bit to get off, but I use the normal cycle more often. We bought this stainless look instead of stainless steel because we have children and didn't want fingerprints. The front is closer to stainless finish than others I've seen, and fingerprints wipe off easily with dishwater. We are very pleased with this purchase.
