excellent value for the money

This dishwasher was easy to install for an average DYI person. We love how clean the lines are, and how nice the inside stainless steel tub looks. The machine is amazingly quiet - we frequently are not aware it's even running (thank goodness for the blue light). In addition, it cleans the dishes really well. The manual filter is easy to clean. Would highly recommend this produce to anyone.

All is well until pump falls off and floods your kitchen

I liked the dishwasher for the first two years. Then one evening, the pump fell off on the outlet side and flooded the kitchen. The water ran down between the floor joists and unto the ceiling of the finished basement, and ran out of the light fixtures!

I pulled the dishwasher to find that the hose clamps between the pump and dishwasher are crimp style, and cannot be tightened further. To make matters worse, the pump is suspended from a tiny rubber dumb-bell, presumably for quiet operation. The problem with this is the attachment is designed incorrectly, and it falls out, allowing the pump to be only supported by the inlet and outlet hoses, which as I said, cannot be tightened. Over time, due to the pump starting and stopping, it apparently can work loose. In my case, it pumped water all over the wood kitchen floors and into the ceiling of a finished basement. Thank goodness we only run the diswasher when we are at home. Even so, it caused a lot of damage before my wife caught it.

I fixed it by wiring the pump into position so it did not have to rely on the little rubber dumbell to support the pump assembly. Terrible design, and potentially, all of these could work themselves off over time and cause significant damage. The worst part, is that 15 cents worth of wire can fix the problem, but how many people will know to do that? My wife was ready to call sears and have a new dishwasher delivered. Nothing wrong with this one other than cheap/poor design on Kenmore's part. Makes me wonder what will break next. I'd never buy another Kenmore product, and would suggest you never leave home with the dishwasher running.

Kenmore Dishwasher

We are so pleased with our new dishwasher. It is so much quieter and cleans very well. Our old one was quite old and so loud, we could not watch TV in the living room without turning up the volume.

Love it!

We bought this machine about a week ago. It is much quieter than our old dishwasher. The normal cycle takes under 2 hours with no dry cycle selected and things come out very clean. When using the 1 hour cycle option I've found some gummy white residue that takes a bit to get off, but I use the normal cycle more often. We bought this stainless look instead of stainless steel because we have children and didn't want fingerprints. The front is closer to stainless finish than others I've seen, and fingerprints wipe off easily with dishwater. We are very pleased with this purchase.

Washes great. Tracks not so much.

This washer does a fantastic job of cleaning the dishes. Unfortunately after about 10 days I had trouble with the rack not staying on track. It was covered and no issue with Sears fixing it, but shouldn't need tracks replaced on a dishwasher less than 2 weeks old.

Great Product

Well, I installed it a couple of weeks ago. It's been working flawless but the best thing about it is how quiet it is. First time we started the dishwasher we had to check to make sure it's working it was so quiet!

Very Happy - Quiet, Efficient, Dishes very Clean

I have now had this dishwasher for 3 months and am very happy with it. The long wash time (common to all high efficiency models) is not a problem, as I just push the "smart wash" button before I go to bed, an weak up to clean and dry dishes. (I don't use the "heat dry" option -- the dishes are always dry on their own.)Stuff I like: Whisper quiet Dishes are very clean (I do scrape or rinse, although not nearly as much as with my previous dishwasher). Light plastic ware does NOT get tossed around . Adjustable top rack. Very large utensil rack with handle, easy to pull out for unloading. Very spacious interior layout.I also opted to buy the extended service warranty from Sears, adding to the cost. No problems thus far, but something to consider along with installation & delivery as part of overall price.

Reliability issues

We purchased an earlier version of this model in 2010. It worked extremely very well for 2 years, but now fails repeatedly. A Sears repairman indicated that steam from wash cycles enters the control panel and ruins the control unit. (I have had to replace 2). Also had a pump unit that failed, causing a basement flood. Unless you are content with replacing your dishwasher after 3 years, avoid these Kenmore models.

Neither of them worked properly!

First one - pump made a loud noise and the heated dry cycle did not work. Second one - sounded normal but didn't dry either. This one also left lip prints and greasy residue on glass items. Just called to return it, I am not going for the trifecta! I will look else where for a replacement.

Repair required after only 3 weeks

I had this dishwasher only 3 weeks when I had to have the plastic door latch replaced!Other than that inconvenience, I have been pleased with the dishwasher so far. It is quiet and gets the dishes clean.

Looks good; a bit noisy; does a decent cleaning job

I would give this 3 1/2 stars if I could. I got this dishwasher last year during the Black Friday sales. It was on sale for $499 and total with installation, protection plan and tax came to $800. A technician installed it by himself without any issues in about 45 minutes. I got it to replace my old Maytag which had started sounding like a dying animal. So this dishwasher is much quieter than the old one, but it is still louder than I would have liked. My friend has a Miele which is whisper quiet, but it also cost $2,000. I did not want to spend that much but was hoping this dishwasher would be almost as quiet. I live in a condo and if I run it before I go to sleep it will prevent me from falling asleep (I am a light sleeper though). If I have the tv on or music, I need to turn the volume up while the dishwasher is running. I use the Smart Wash function which works well but it's long (usually around 2 1/2 hours). The 1 hour wash doesn't get everything clean.

Good Dishwasher.....but get one with door top controls if you work in front of it

This dishwasher has been great. Quiet, dishes are clean, uses very little water and energy. My only regret is that I didn't realize that the control buttons are so sensitive. My work area is in the same spot and I keep turning the dishwasher on accidently. I have to remember to turn the control lock on as soon as the last load is finished. Kind of a drag. Thought about exchanging it for one with door top controls, but decided to not hassle with it.
