My old microwave in a oven wall unit had broken, but when I searched, found that other stores don't carry wall unit microwaves with trim kit, and I would have to pre-order and receive it after 2-3 weeks.
So I bought a 1.9 cu kenmore elite microwave and this trim kit fit perfectly with it. Easy to instalI, just had to move the microwave a bit forward so that door could open completely.
Trim kit does not fit the Kenmore microwave I bought. So I have been online and back to the store and they can't tell me which microwave this kit fits. Even though the kit gives me models of what Kenmore microwaves it fits none of the 3's match up. Frustrated going somewhere else!!
I have a very nice 30" Kenmore Elite Wall Oven and I wanted to mount a Microwave above it. Its been an adventure.
First I was sold a hood mount microwave. These do not wall mount. I had to return it.
Then I went to the store and two salesmen could not figure out which trim kit to use to have a wall mountable microwave. I bought a 1.5 cu ft microwave, but later discovered it did not have a trim kit and was not mountable.
I exchanged that microwave for the 2.0 cu ft Microwave (7920).
I called the Kenmore parts department. The 2.0 microwave on the website is called a 7920. That means nothing to the parts department, they need to know its a 721-79203010. From that they told me I needed a trim kit #02064003000.
Sears.com recommended the 30" trim kit #02063003000. Which was not in stock.
At the store the sales staff was of no help because their inventory numbers do not match the parts numbers. The only way to get Kenmores true manufacturer number is to open the box and read the number on the door.
I ended up with the #02064003000. The door rubs against the frame a bit, but it is functional. The 64 is the hole size the 3000 refers to Stainless.
To mount the oven I had to build a wood shelf the unit rests on. There are some metal parts that need to be screwed on the oven itself to send the exhaust out the front vents in the trim kit. It was fairly simple to mount the oven. It looks pretty good.
