This Kenmore 5.1 Chest Freezer is Great.

Freezer does a awsome job keeping all my foods frozen and that's with the temp on med. It's small but it holds a lot of food and with food going up in price it just makes sense.

Freezer Stopped Working after 1.5 years

Just to add more of the same, our freezer chest quit working after about 18 months of use. One day it was fine, the next day everything was nearly thawed. Save yourself some time and money and avoid buying this freezer chest! And shame on you, Sears, for selling an inferior product! There's clearly an issue with this model; how about a recall?

Bad Freezer!

This freezer stopped working about 18 months after we bought it. Went to get some food out of it and almost everything was thawed. We had to throw most of the food away. We called right away because we had warranty, but service department told us we never purchased one. A few months later they sent as warranty renewal form in the mail. This when we called this time, they found our file. Ultimately the technician could not fix the unit. Glad we got the warranty, but it was such a pain to deal with their service department. I DO NOT recommend this freezer!!!

Dont waste your money

I had this freezer for 18-months and it just stopped working. i went to get some meat out for dinner and everything had thawed out. Not happy with the purchase. Get the warranty or you will have to purchase another freezer and all the food that you lost..

Gave out after 22 months of inside the house use

Luckily I went to pull out some steaks for dinner today. I found the steaks were 25% thawed. The chest worked for 22 months inside my house (not stored in the hot garage in Las Vegas). I did get one $24 rebate check for the incorrect energy consumption usage.

BUYER BEWARE

We bought this freezer in Feb 2011. I wish I could rate this a 0 stars out of 5. We came out to find it had died just short of a year and a half having this freezer. The Green light that the serviceman replaced at 1 year under warrenty still showed that it was working on outside indicating still working. Got off of chat with Sears tech. They have no compressor parts on hand due to the manufacture. This issue seems to be happening to lots of people yet it is not a manufactures problem since they only warrenty their products for one year. BUYERS BEWARE.

Do not by, Don't know if i can trust Sears anymore

I bought this product 24 1/2 months ago and now it has died for the 3rd time. I did by a 2 yr warranty. After about 6 months it died and i lost the food. It was fixed and then 2 months later it happened again. When they came out the 2nd time it was fixed. If I didn't have the warranty it would have cost about 400-500 dollars to fix what they fixed. And now it has gone out again and my warranty ran out and now I am stuck with nothing and have no where to put some of the food. I wanted sears to replace it after the 2nd time and they said the freezer had to have 4 problems with the same issue in order to do that. I have also had a problem with the refrigerator I brought. I am very disappointed with Sears and there products. They have gone down hill. And they seem like that don't care about how poor there products are. Do not by this product. Very poor. : (

Don't buy a Kenmore freezer

I purchased a chest freezer model # 255-19702010 that has failed after less than 22 months ? repair parts are not available. What a piece of junk! These should have been recalled because the manufacturer even knew there was a problem ? I was contacted and sent a check for $24.00 because this model used more energy than advertized. Every Sears customer that purchased this freezer should be given a full refund!Check SEARS website for reviews on this and you will see how many unhappy customers got stuck with this lemon model. Chest freezers should have a life expectancy of 10 -14 years not 22 months or less. Sears & Midea knew that this model #25519702010 freezer was problematic and initiated the Kenmore energy rebate program to cover up for these defective appliances! These should be recalled and all purchasers refunded for the full amount of their purchase. $24 is not fair compensation for Sears selling this junk to unsuspecting consumers who trusted the Kenmore name. In the past these were quality appliances but not now ? just cheap junk from China and no customer support after purchase. On the Mamange my life SEARS site, the expert states that these freezers have a structural defect and a stop oeder was issued. Then this model was discontinued. Scott D EXPERT answered on SEARS Manage My Life :?This is an inexpensive product line and because of this, some of the parts would actually cost more then a new freezer. It would actually be more economical to replace the freezer than purchase the parts.? SO SEARS SELLS THIS FREEZER AS A DISPOSABLE ITEM! Don't expect to be able to get it repaired if it stops working.

at least the price was right

It does what a freezer does by definition -freezes. Don't expect more cause it ain't gonna happen. What bothers me is that it has very poor insulating properties -confirmed with a thermometer. They could have at least insulated the heat from the compressor -rising into the cold space above - for less than 10 cents. But no. Cheap ********! I am surprised that Sears pushes this Chinese junk on 'loyal'customers! Shame on them. Oh, I forgot, they got none! Tom

Don't know why I never purchased this before!

There is only my husband and I but, with the cost of food escalating, I can not resist the bogo and buy 10 for 10 deals in the weekly grocery ads. My refrigerator's top compartment freezer just could not meet my needs. This unit is small enough that I don't have to worry about "losing" food to the freezer burn demon and it's pocketbook friendly on the electric bill. Why I never bought this before is a mystery.

Stay Away!

From reading some of the reviews, looks like I was lucky. Mine lasted 16 months. It died overnight last night. Do not buy unless you will use temporarily & you plan to sell before it dies. Of course that wouldn't be a nice thing to do.Bottom line, don't buy this P.O.S.
