This Kenmore 5.1 Chest Freezer is Great.

Freezer does a awsome job keeping all my foods frozen and that's with the temp on med. It's small but it holds a lot of food and with food going up in price it just makes sense.

WILL QUIT AND RUIN YOUR FOOD

As stated in multiple other reviews, the 5.1 cu. ft. Chest Freezer quit after a couple of years use and we just finished throwing out an expensive amount of ruined meat--some of it choice grass-fed beef. Absolutely avoid this product. We will never again purchase a Kenmore chest freezer and will be passing on the warning to all of our friends.

A Very good Product

|

I have owned this for 2 years now. Through all the power surges its still ticking. Its the perfect size for my small kitchen and my wife has used it as a counter top against my wishes. But it is still in day one shape. Good Product.

I agree with all the negative reviews, but read on . . .

|

Let's be clear, all the positive reviews for this item are from those who just bought it. I felt the same way when we first purchased this freezer. From a design stand point it is really nice, it has wheels, it has a usable interior shelf because a railing is provided and it has the basket which hangs from the top allowing for extra storage. Unfortunately, mine too failed after about three years. This model is made by Midea for Kenmore. This company makes products such as dehumidifiers under different names. Although the design of Midea products always seems pretty good, the quality is suspect.

After mine failed I started looking on-line for comments on how to fix. Many reviewers replaced several of the internal components with a Supco 3 and 1 RCO410 hard start kit. I'm fairly good with tools and electrical since I like do-it-yourself projects. However, I'm am not an appliance repair person or an electrician. My point is that most people could install this kit. I gave it a try and now almost a year later our freezer is buzzing along working like it did in the beginning. I don't know how long it will keep going before something else goes bad, it could be months or years. However, the Supco kit was around $12.00 so the additional time I'm getting out of my freezer helps lessen my disappointment about it breaking down in the first place.

Don't know how I lived without it

|

This is just the right size for any home. We used to have two refrigerators to store meats but since getting this freezer, I can't believe I lived without one for so long. A must have in every home.

Do not buy this product, unless it is for short term only.

|

I have had this freezer for a little over 2 years, it has always had an ice build up problem requiring defrosting. I went to my basement today the little green light was on showing power to the unit, I had a faint smell of rot, I opened the freezer and all my food had been spoiled, what a disgusting mess. I do not recommend this product as it just quit working.

Absolutely the Worst

|

I had this product for 2 and one-half years before it died taking $400 worth of meat with it. I expect any product bearing the Kenmore name to have the reliability and dependability I grew up knowing. This is the first time in my 50+ years of buying Kenmore branded products that such a brand failed to live up to its name. Its not just me, so many others have experienced this disaster of a purchase.

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Kenmore-Parts/All-Products-Parts/Repair-Maintenance/Questions-Answers/I-have-a-Kenmore-Chest-Freezer-Model-195/Model-25519502010/0582/0141000/319951?modelNumber=25519502010

On top of it all, this unit was falsely advertised as being an energy efficient machine and IT IS NOT.
This is the worst purchase ever and yet it CONTINUES TO BE SOLD BY SEARS.
STAY AWAY from this product. Reconsider what it is you want to purchase but see how the sales rep backs up the product and NOT by offering a 3 year warranty package for $100 more.

You read this... now you have been advised.... a fool and a money is soon parted... I only wish I had taken a moment to review my intended purchase beforehand.... I wouldn't be sitting here writing the review. I could actually be enjoying some the meat that I once had !

Just what I needed.

|

The size is perfect. I just needed some additional freezer space and didn't want to take up too much floor space so this is just what I was looking for and not too expensive.

Poor poor quality - Dies very quickly

|

We purchased this product in 2011 and it died in 2014. Warranty is worthless...product is worthless. Buy a different brand.

Nice deep freezer

|

I just moved into a townhouse and its just me and my best friend. This deep freezer has more than enough space for the both of us. Also the deep freezer does not use a lot of electricity and keeps my food beyond cold. I highly recommend.

3 years one month

|

I had a warranty for 3 years. It lasted 3 years and one month. I didn't get any money from the energy star. I must state, that, I didn't defrost it enough though. The light would not come on when failed. Started having trouble keeping 0 about 1 month before it failed. I worry about the 5 cu foot that has 7 positives.

Poor Quality

|

Had it about 2 years. Compressor went out. Same as everyone else. Was not covered by warranty. Would cost $75 to have a technician look at it. Lost all of the food in it. Took it to the dump. Will never buy another one from Sears.

Not the Sears or Kenmore it used to be

|

2.5 years and shot! Had our previous small, but slightly larger than this one, freezer for about 25 years. Kenmore and Craftsman were names synonymous with American quality - no more!

awesome

we needed a freezer but did not want something so big. This product is the perfect size for where we wanted to install it. I also loved the price. I was also able to pick it up that same day.

PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU BUY

|

If I would have left this review when I first bought the chest freezer it would have been 5 stars. It is a great size, fits anywhere in the house and has plenty of room for storing food. Loved it! I bought the freezer on 09/10/2011 and bought the 2 year warranty with it.

2 years pass and everything is great! Went home today to clean it out to make room for a 1/4 cow I ordered.... everything was rotten! The green light on the bottom right was still on but it isn't cold.

Thought I was safe buying a Kenmore product, thought wrong. And when I called Sears to schedule a service call, it was going to be $75 just to diagnose. The freezer is only $200.

Very disappointed in this purchase.

After the first year, got a call telling us the energy star guide was wrong so the sent us a check to cover the energy difference $13, and had to call every year that we owned it to get the refund, but by the 2nd year the compressor went out lost food. Piece of junk. DO NOT BUY!!
