Best Dryer I've ever had

I love this dryer! The Auto Moisture Sensing feature along with the Wrinkle Guard feature make it perfect. I looked at this dryer online when I was searching for a new dryer because of it's capacity (7.5 cu ft.), but was sold once I saw all the other features. I can fit anything in this dryer and when I have smaller loads, it's just more room and less chance of wrinkling. Speaking of which, the Wrinkle Guard feature is cool and so far nothing has wrinkled. I agree with one of the other reviewers, my heavier items, such as thick socks and jeans do come out a bit damp, but I just toss them back in and reset it. They are usually fully dry before it beeps. I've had this dryer a little under a year now and am very, very happy with it.

Good but some flaws

I would really like to meet the designer of this machine. Just to fire him! It works, it works quite well in fact... but... The top is sloped. Enough that anything you would normally put on the dryer (clean laundry, fabric sheets etc) will be shaken off and land on the floor. Horrible design flaw. The other problem have with this dryer is the venting location. It would seem logical that the elbow would not push the dryer another 5 inches from the wall. Add to that the 5 inches of the over-sized drum and you have lost 10 inches of floorspace and the ability to put anything (like those dryer sheets...) on the back. The listed dimensions are not "installed dimensions" be careful if you have limited space.

Dryer

I received the dryer in November 2012 and had it for a little over a year. I started to have electrical problems with it. It turns on and off pretty quickly. It does not stay on more than 30 seconds. I got it to work again and now it smells like burning rubber. Not sure why a 1 year old dryer would start to give me problems already. Before buying, I checked the reviews and it seemed to have good reviews. As you can see it has a 4 star. Unfortunately, I did not get an extended warranty, so I will have to pay for it to get fixed.

Very disappointing.

We bought this dryer to have in our retirement years. It drys, but the moisture sensor doesn't work. The lint trap doesn't hold the lint well, can see a build up in the slot. We have had it about 18 months and do 3 to 4 loads a week. Kenmore quality is really gone. I have had this brand most of our 38 years of marriage and 3 kids, regret these last 3 purchases.

A good buy

I bought this dryer on sale as a replacement for a 19+ year old Frigidaire dryer. This dryer has a very large drum that can more than handle any load we wash. The lint screen is conveniently located at the bottom of the drum opening. The auto moisture sensing keeps our clothes from coming out the dryer hot by shutting down the drying cycle when the clothes are dry. This is a good basic dryer that meets our needs and expectations.

Like the 7.5 size.

This dryer does not fit flush to the wall (not that any dryer would be totally flush with the wall) but this one is probably out about 7 inches due to the way the back of it is made. The top is slightly sloped but I have not had an issue with anything sliding off the top. Although I am still adjusting to this dryer, I've only had it 2 days and done 4 loads of clothes, I do love the larger 7.5 cu ft size. My clothes are not wrinkled when you take them out. The dryer runs very quietly and appears to be working properly. It's very simple to use.

Don't waste your time purchasing

I purchased this dryer in June of 2011. It just stopped!! The timer control board went out and is going to cost me around $200 to fix. Repair person stated that this is a part that should not have went out. I am sick to think that I paid around $600 for this dryer and now have to pay to fix. I called Sears to compain and was transfered "5" times and still nothing. Of course I could "pay" someone to come and look at it. I will never purchase anything from them again. As a hard working American it makes me sad to know that this product was a waste of my hard earned money.

kenmore 6600 dryer

The dryer has met all expectations. I bought the matching washer also. The dryer works very well and the end of cycle chime is much better than the anoying buzzer that most dryers have. The handle on the dryer seems a little on the cheap side. Other than that I really like it. It dryes the clothes well, the drum is large.

Kenmore Electric Dryer meets high expectations

I purchased this Kenmore Electric Dryer after weeks of studying the options. I have high expectations and always try to get the best value for my money. The key features that attracted me to this model are; The way the door opens down, the lint filter inside the front at the door, and the ability to side vent. The moisture sensor makes this dryer very efficient. The controls are easy to understand and I am pleased with the placement of the door handle. I looked at the side vent kit offered online and went to the local hardware store and purchased the hard elbows and vent pieces I needed to install the side vent myself and found it worked well and is so nice to have it against the wall. I did read the instructions online. Overall, I am very pleased and hope to purchase the matching washer in the future.

Major Upgrade

We have had the dryer for over a month and it has performed exceptionally well. It is quiet and drys all types of clothes completely. This is a major upgrade over our pervious Kenmore dryer that we had for over 13 years.

This dryer works for me!

I replaced my 17 year old working Kenmore gas dryer when my washer failed in January. I couldn't get any of the area pro's to convert to propane and hook up the gas so I changed my order and bought this electric dryer. It works fabulously! On auto dry, there would always be a very small wet spot or two on sheets. No biggie but prefer for all to be totally dry. I discovered the dryer controls allow to add 10, 20 or 30% to the auto time if needed. I went overboard at 30% but everything is now perfectly dry. I'll back it off to 20% next time and 10% if that works. Now I have dry clothes without the worries of a gas leak, failed igniter - none of that. This is a quiet, well designed dryer worth the money for sure!
