Great unit.

First off the noise everybody is complaining about is the fan blade picking up water to cool the evaporator coil fins. It's by design to use less energy. Don't like ? Another 8k will be bigger heaver and use more energy. This unit is about as small as a 5k unit of old. Comes with side panels. has plastic fan shroud which may break in the sun. For the money I like it. Cools good. I never have luck with dinky 6000 btu units.

Kenmore 8000 BTU Window AC, horrible sound

We bought this air conditioner 2 weeks ago and I feel like I have purchased an airplane. This product is way too loud, don't make the mistake I did and don't purchase this product.

Good a/c

It is a wonderful air conditioner. I have one from about a year from now and it's perfect. Cools very good and its very easy to clean. I bought a new one for my new room.

Kenmore 8,000 BTU Window AC

The AC's performance seems to work well with the inlet air temperature being very cool when set low.The PROBLEM I encountered was a missing piece of foam insulation barrier outside of the fan housing. I didn't notice the foam piece missing until I had spent nearly 1/2 of my day removing the old unit, recutting the size of the opening in my bedroom wall and installing the unit and trimming pieces of newly bought 1"X3 finish lumber to frame and dress the exterior and interior walls.After the installation and after cleaning up - just before sundown, I noticed "daylight" entering through the right side of the air vents of the AC. On inspection, I realized a large piece of foam (3" X 5") was missing.I haven't had the time to remove and take back to Sears for a replacement. I'll let you know how the next unit works once I have the time to R&R.

Great product

This is the perfect way for a household to keep a room cooler than the rest for when you have that one person who loves to sleep in an icy cold room. If it were not a Kenmore I would say it was to pricey but Kenmore products outlast most other brands

I see the price as $199.49 minus 20% and another 5% by using my Sears charge card. Are there any more discounts? What is the final price? Also, what is the cost of the extended warranty?

If you get 20% off the $199.49 and then another 5% then the final price would be $151.61 according to my calculations. The cost of a 2 year in-shop Sears Master Protection Agreement would be $29.99. The 3 year plan would be $44.99.
