Great dryer

This dryer is amazing. We retired our "old" dryer to upgrade to something that had the capacity to dry a full load of clothes out of our new washer. We purchased this dryer the second week of March 2012. Right out of the box we tested it. We loaded our 4.3 cu ft washer to near capacity with a mixed load. When it was done and we tossed it in the dryer, I was amazed. The cavernous drying drum just swallowed it up. We turned it on to dry and within an hour the load was completely dry. That amount of clothing would have taken 2 loads at an hour each in the old dryer. Additionally, the steam refresh feature is great. I tossed in a couple of wrinkled shirts and slacks to test it out. 14 minutes later they came out loose and wrinkle free. It is absolutely great. I could not be happier. My one disappointment was the instructions saying I had to hook it up with rigid exhaust pipe instead of a flexible metal pipe. Small price to pay though.

Continued Issue with Dryer

After reading the latest review regarding problems with this dryer, we felt like we were reading our story. We are on our second dryer, and it is not in any better shape than the first (mounted on a pedastal). The first dryer went out in less than a week, after 5 medium sized loads. The dryer began to make a loud rattling noise after approximately 10 minutes into the dry cycle, and eventually the bearings went out (drum stopped spinning) on the last load. The second dryer began quietly, followed by a humming noise, which turned into a loud rattling noise during the first load! We were worried about the washer, and it works great. I will be scheduling a service call versus asking for a new unit, since this appears to be the norm with this dryer, and the second delivery was an unpleasant experience (installers dented top of washer when installing the dryer). Kenmore has been our appliance name of choice for many years; we are rethinking about this and future purchases.

love soft heat button

My clothes are so soft when I use the soft heat option I give have to give this five stars. The cycles are quick for the washer and dryer, but fur the washer they can be made quicker with time manager button. Also note that If you turn the dryer on and hit start, it defaults to normal. You don't have to select a cycle every time. I sell appliances at Sears but bought this one because of it's large capacity and because my washer is on the right and youn switch the washer door for that (as well as the dryer door of course). Washer is great too. This and the washer both come with their own special hoses for regular washing and for steam in the dryer. You don't need to buy them.

Disappointed

We bought the washer and dryer a little less than two years ago. Washer is great. Love the steam feature on the dryer. However, there is a HUGE defect with the dryer vent. It has a tendency to rise up during a cycle, catch tags and any straps. This not only can ruin clothes but turns a load of laundry into a huge twisted mess! I hope this has been corrected in the newer models. I contacted Sears but received no help. This is the first time I have been so dissatisfied with a product and have written a negative review. Wish I had my old top loading kenmore dryer.

Have had this unit for 3 mos now and I am very satisfied. The good, dryes fast and removes lint well, easy to clean lint filter, many cycles. The bad no my cycle option. havent used the steam option yet. Havent had had any noise problems that others have had. Seem very solidy built.

Loud, Noisy, Rattles

We have had it one week. We bought the set. Love the washer. The dryer, not so much. I don't know whether to call a service tech out or just wait and see. It is loud, it rattles, and it "surges". It is drying my clothes so I don't know if this is normal sounds for this dryer or if something is wrong. Paid a lot of money for this and the motor just does not sound right.

Dryer

I love the steam setting, it is great for touching up some wrinkled laundry. The only thing I don't like is that you need to select a setting every time you turn the machine on, The color is rich. Looks great in my laundry room.

Going Back

We have had several appliances from Sears and have always been happy with them. In fact, we had our last dryer from Sears for over 13 years. However, after just two weeks with this dryer, it is going back. When we purchased it, there were only good reviews on it . But, like the review that was added in December our dryer also makes a VERY loud noise each time it is used. We had it looked at and there isn't anything that can be done. We are so disappointed and will not buy the same dryer for fear it will have the same issue. Maybe there was an error in the factory with the recent group...not sure. Save yourself a step and pick a different dryer.

Just got the 2nd one of these

We are on our 2nd one of these in less than a week. Bought the washer and dryer pair. The washer is great. The dryer starts making a rattling bad bearing / bad transmission sound after running for about 10 minutes. First one was really loud. 2nd one not as loud but it is loud. Really crazy. Seems to be heat related. They are bringing the 3rd one this week. Has anyone else had this problem? The install book says to screw in the legs all the way before installing the lower drawer kits, the installers removed the feet both times. I added them back on the 2nd one after it started making noise and it does not seem as bad. Just wondering if the error in installation could be damaging the dryer after a few minutes. The sad thing is no Sears repair people are available till sometime in Jan. This is a joke. FYI - Washer is perfect.

Big and Beautiful

Very quiet and has a huge capacity, uses very little water and looks so good I took the doors off the laundry in the hallway so you can see them.

Kenmore is Excellent

Kenmore products are excellent. My great grandmother always had a Kenmore washer and dryer. It was dependable. Lasted for many many years with no problems. I would recommend Kenmore to anyone shopping for appliances. It is my first choice!

The best dryer!!! And buy the washer too!

I bought this dryer (and matching washer) on sale at the end of January. At first, the dryer had problems because the venting was partially blocked, so an error code came up that the Sears tech couldn't figure out! So make sure your venting is completely cleaned prior to install. Now that all is working, this dryer is absolutely amazing. The cycles are well thought out, the capacity is huge, and drying times are phenomenal. I wish the chime was louder, as it is hard to hear from the downstairs, but the chime is very pleasant. The steam feature is wonderful, and I have dried everything from small loads to a king size down comforter without any problems. Just make sure you don't need a Sears tech to fix any error codes!!!

I absolutely love this dryer!

<p>I have never enjoyed drying clothes so much in my entire life.  I bought this dryer 1.5 weeks ago.  Beside the fact that it dries my clothes in a timely mannor, my favorite feature is the sweet sounding chime and lights as it powers on and off.  Sure it might sound silly, but I find myself smiling each time.  That means that I am now happy doing something that I have never been happy doing before.  That's important to me.  I also love the display of time left to the drying cycle.  No more guessing.  Also, this dryer is slightly narrower than my other dryer which gives me the space I need to tuck away my 2 shoe holders (that we always had to work around) which inturn allows me to extend my folding shelf.  This dryer has given me a fully functioning utility room.  I am seriously happy about that.  It comes with an easy to use drying shelf that expands for use and retracts for storage, it has a touch screen and internal light that allows viewing during the drying process. It is very easy to select a drying cycle, and clean the lint filter.  Oh yeh there's even a steam option for getting wrinkles out, and a sweet chime sound at the end of the cycle (no loud obnoxious alarm sound that I would always opt to turn completely off because I can't stand that horrible sound).  I would definately recommend this dryer to anyone looking.  In fact I also have a Kenmore Elite dishwasher that I love too.  I have had other brands of appliances and never been as satisfied as with Kenmore Elite. </p>
