Still New....

...but so far very amazing piece of workmanship. looks and feels solid when opening door, no rattles except for groceries. keeps everything crisp and cool as needed; still waiting to compare power bills from last summer, but so far saving a bit of $. love the space especially in the doors-- 2 liters, gallons etc. wonderful. easy display and the interior lights are great for midnight snacks...you dont get blinded by them they just illuminate whats in the fridge. very excited to see the longevity of life...this purchase could turn the rest of our kitchen to an LG showroom!

LG side-by-side with water/ice dispenser

Owned for 3 yrs, major problems with ice dispenser breaking(replaced twice); ice container cover broke once.  Major rust is occuring beneath the ice/water dispenser insert on the front of the door.  Neither the manufacturer nor Sears accepts responsibility for the poor performance of this unit.

Love my LG Side by Side

|

I love my new LG Side by Side. The
27 cubic foot is the perfect size. I love the drawers that
slide out. It keeps food the perfect temperature. Love the ice
in the door feature and that the crushed ice makes the perfect
crushed ice! I have learned to hold my glass as close to the
top of the dispenser to avoid it spilling and missing the
glass, but that is a little adjustment. I would like it to make
ice a little quicker than it does. I just have to hit the ice
button once a day. But, then it is summer and we are using a
lot more ice. All in all I LOVE it.

So far, so Great!

|

Been about 2 months of
ownership...no problems or design issues on my part. VERY quiet
motor, ice drop can be startling but that's normal. I guess I'm
not used to a brand new refrigerator because I don't have to
keep the temperature on high to feel cold! Seems very
efficient.

Very nice, but a couple design flaws

|

I bought this refrigerator around
July of 2013, so I've had it for a year now. First the
positive: Temperature in both sides, freezer and refrigerator
seems very stable and consistent. I prefer the side-by-side
design over the new (old) design with the freezer on the bottom
as it's much easier to find things and organize them. The
stainless steel finish is very good in not showing
fingerprints, as long as you maintain the surface with
stainless steel wipes which also makes it a lot easier to clean
sticky stuff off of it. The lighting inside is fantastic with
one caveat, the very bottom product compartment has no light in
it at all. I often forget to use it, or even notice it because
it's so much darker than the rest of the compartments and
shelves. The most annoying thing about this refrigerator is the
water/ice dispenser. Regular sized glasses don't catch all the
ice (crushed) falling from the dispenser. No matter how I
position the glass, inevitably many pieces hit the floor.
They're hard to see so some end up melting into water which
gets stepped in, and thus causes the floor to get dirty faster,
especially directly in front of the frige. Even a very wide
mouth cup can't seem to catch all the crushed ice pieces
because you can't hold the cub high enough to eliminate the
issue. Another design issue with the ice/water dispenser is
that there doesn't seem to be any way to set the light to stay
on longer or just stay on, like at night time. So when I want
to get water or ice, I have to turn on the overhead lights to
see what I'm doing. I hate that when I happen to get up early
or in the middle of the night. I wish the light just came on
when a glass is inserted into the space and delayed a bit
before turning off. The user control panel on the ice/water
dispenser is not very intuitive. When ever I have guests over,
I always have to demonstrate the controls to them, nobody can
ever just figure it out. It appears to many that you would
press the lighted icon for a function, but you actually press
the words "Ice Type" to select between cubed ice, water, or
crushed ice. I do like the size of the opening, I can fit a
full size pitcher in it though the water flow rate is a little
slow for filling up a pitcher. These few design issues could be
very easily made more user friendly by LG, but I would be happy
if they could rectify the ice dispensing on my floor with a
retrofitted solution. I won't hold my breath on that one. The
shelves inside are very nice. Easily removed for cleaning or
reconfiguration. And the air seems to flow well throughout the
unit. Dimensions: The dimensions of the unit do not account for
bowing of the sidewalls which is at least an inch (1"). If,
like me you are replacing a much older refrigerator and cut the
tolerance close, you may be in for a rude awakening. I think
manufacturers recommend a certain clearance but from what I've
seen, most of us don't do that. I ended up having to cut 1/2"
off a counter top, and another 1/4" off the side of a pantry
cabinet to get this thing in the space where my old
refrigerator was even though the dimensions were the same
according to LG's information and my measurement of my old
frige. I was only willing to do so because I anticipate
replacing my cabinets in the future. Otherwise, I would have
returned the unit. Overall, I am very pleased with this
refrigerator. It looks great, seems to run perfectly after only
a year, but it's very quiet and efficient.

Do not regret buying this product.
You can change all shelving, the lighting is great and is very
quiet when running. Also like the quick setting for faster ice

Don't like the selection feature for
ice and water. Prefer separate outlets. Water not particularly
cold.

sleek design

|

Bought this in May 2014 and it is
great, runs very quiet and have had no issues with the ice
maker. The refrigerator side is large and deep holds a lot more
than I thought it would and with the adjustable shelves it's
great when you have tall items to store. The freezer section is
ok but not as roomy so if you are a large family and you buy a
lot to store in the freezer then you may be limited to what you
can hold in there. Otherwise very sleek design, have had many
comments from guests on how good it looks.

LOVE THIS FRIDGE

|

We bought this to replace a 13 yr
old one which came with house, after having the old one
repaired twice, we looked all models and this fridge came out
tops for us. Plenty of space, water filter would be easy to
change. the door shelves are nice strong plastic, the glass
shelves in fridge are good and easy to clean, also the freezer
side is spacious, all round a quality product at the right
price. Very pleased with fridge.

This side by side is better than our old one

|

We get plenty of ice into our glass,
unlike our old fridge that dispensed a cube at a time and that
with a grinding noise. The lights are very nice. Husband
doesn't like the display feature for ice and water but my son
and I got it figured out fast, just push the button once for
ice, again for water. It runs so quiet, which is a plus over
our old side by side, but it seems to run way too often for my
peace of mind. Our electric bill did go down so it must be like
the owners manual says, it runs more often but is more energy
efficient . The space is more than I need right now but when
the holidays come I'll be thanking myself for buying a size
bigger then my old fridge.

Very good fridge

|

We purchased this about three months
ago and it is running well, and very quiet. The in-door water
and ice quality is excellent. Freezer side is a little tight,
but the cold side is exactly what we need.

So far so good

|

We purchased this side-by-side fridge after our extra fridge in the garage died on us. We were looking to replace it with a cheap one. We walked into Sears and our sales person was very helpful in determining what our needs and goals were to determine the best fridge. After a while, we decided to move our kitchen fridge to the garage and replace that one instead. We decided on this LG because it was quite large (26.5 cu ft) and had simple but necessary features (ice maker, water dispenser, digital temp controls). It is not a fancy refrigerator but meets our expectations, especially for the price. I've heard the ice maker is not the greatest but I haven't used it enough to noticed. I will have to update my review after a few months. For now, we are happy with it. Time will tell.

It looks good and works good

|

I needed to replace the frig in my
garage and we have had a LG tv for about six years, and we love
it so I wanted to try an LG frig. It might be a little overkill
for a garage, but the refreshments stay cold. I have had it
about four months and it works perfect. If you want to have a
trouble free cold drink summer I highly recommend LG
products.

Love my new LG Side-by Side

|

I love my new refrigerator. It has a nice sized freezer that is perfect for my husband and me. The shelves in the door of the 'fridge' are nice and actually wide enough for a change to store condiments, dressings, and tall bottles.

Love this product!

|

I own an LG TV and love it. When I
needed to purchase a new refrigerator I was drawn to LG because
of the look and size. The delivery was prompt and the setup was
easy. The settings are very easy to understand and the icemaker
does an excellant job. I would recommend this produc to anyone
looking for a refrigerator. I am now saving to buy an LG stover
and over the stove microwave. LG makes the best products I have
ever owned.

AVOID this fridge due to four major design flaws

|

We have had this refrigerator for
about five months. It looks great and offered what I considered
good features for the money. There are, however, four major
design flaws you need to be aware of: 1) Ice maker is absolute
junk and suffers from a fatal design flaw. Basically, water
fills a plastic tray and then "twists" itself to drop the ice.
This causes the ice tray to contort over time, at which point
water will start spilling all over the inside of your freezer.
We had a tech come out and replace the ice maker and it still
did the exact same thing. He said it was a major design flaw
that many people experience. 2) As many others have noted, the
"ICE TYPE" design is totally confusing to any guests you have
over. It's not at all intuitive when you walk up to the fridge
that you need to press "ICE TYPE" if you simply want to get a
glass of water. Seriously? Who thought that was a good idea. 3)
Even on the "cube" setting, small bits of ice will spray out of
the ice cute and all over your floor, every single time you
press the level for ice. This is another design flaw and just
read the reviews to see how many other people experience the
same thing. 4) As others have mentioned, the internal LED
lighting is energy efficient, but makes for VERY dim lighting.
This is even worse if you plan to use the top shelf of the
refrigerator. In sum, we REALLY wanted to like this fridge, but
we simply cannot recommend it based on these four major design
flaws. AVOID this refrigerator if these things would bother you
as they do us. We really regret our purchase.
