Masterbuilt Charcoal Barrel Smoker

After reading about the smoker and how it worked and comments from other owners. I made the following. modification to the firebox.2" below the center line I drilled 4 holes to raise the firebox charcoal grate above the orginal position. This help to keep the heat at 200 degree with to air vent 3/4 closed. if you open the vent wide open the temp will rise to 300 degrees and it holds steady. I also places a piece of expanded sheet cut to 11"x12" and placed This keeps the charcoal brickets from dropping thru on top of orginal grate. The cooking area reached 200 degrees before the charcoal was completely ashed over. when ashed aver ti was at 300 Degrees.Have fun smoking

Had this offset barrel smoker since the summer of 2011. The first time I used it for smoking the heat caused the offset smoker to rust. Note I keep this pit covered. Inside the grill is starting to become deformed from cooking and its only a matter of time the grill will not fit. The two front wheels broke off and sears has failed to get me a replacement. I have been to their website and repair center twice and had no luck. I purchased the warranty, but sears cannot find it in their computer.
