Water Filtration Simplicity

When we bought our new GE 25.0 cu.ft. side-by-side for our new home, one of the main features that attracted me was the GE Smart Water Filtration System that was incorporated into our new 'fridge.

Having filtered water and ice dispensed through the door and directly into our glass was a bit of a luxury since we always rented apartments and they always supplied antiques and basket case refrigerator's.

The filtered water is crystal clear and tastes good too. When the time came to change out the filter cartridge, it was a simple twist of the old cartridge to remove and another twist of the wrist to install the new. No need to turn off the water to accomplish this filter change either, as the design of the GE Smart Water Filtration system has made this possible.

The GE Smart Water Filtration System is a fine addition to the General Electric refrigerator line up. I'm glad we found it....I'm sure you will be too!

No substitute

|

I have tried several other off brands but nothing compares to the original. The water taste better andv the ice cubes are better as well. I will never buy anything else but the name brand.

Quality filter for my GE refrigerator

|

I have been using this filter for more than 10 years now and it always works as advertised. However, I feel it is a little pricey for the duration it lasts.

I love my GE Frig/freezer with its own Brita water filter!

|

It is so convenient to just go to my refrigerator and get filtered water cold from my refrigerator door tap!

High Price

|

You can get a Brita MWF refrigerator filter MUCH cheaper. This filter is a rip off. Almost $50 for a filter is ridiculous. I use the Brita MWF in my fridge, and it works great.

Simple to change-worth the price

|

No longer use bottled water. Filter works well, last a long time and I have confidence we are drinking pure water. Highly recommended.

This water filter is easy to install and works very well

|

Installation is as easy as twisting off the old one and twisting on the new one. I definitely notice an improved taste compared to my unfiltered tap water. It will last a year with typical family water usage. It will pay for itself, since bottled water purchases will no longer be needed.

Works great- rather expensive

|

Crystal Clear The GE smart-water replacement filter is for the in-door water system in the Kenmore refrigerator. Removing the old filter is a bit messy (water is easily spilled and access is difficult as it is at the top of the fridge), but installing the replacement is quick and easy.

I originally chose this refrigerator because my local Sears store carried the replacement filters. They no longer carry them in-store, so my biggest complaint is that I now have to pay for shipping on top of an already expensive filter (total for 2 filters to be delivered $140.81).

Also, it is extremely important to replace the filters every 5-6 months, or mold clumps develop and shoot out of the water system into your container.

I have not used other water systems, but this filter keeps the water and ice tasting good. Overall, I am pleased.

GE Smart Water filter

I agree the price is high but our filter lasted one year and has saved us a bundle in not buying bottled water. The water tastes great--no taste at all!

Way Too Expensive, but Works Great

|

The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5, was because this thing should cost about the same as an oil filter for your car, that is exactly what it looks like. Okay, maybe $10-15, but not $50. I do have to say, the water in Collin County (Frisco/Plano) tastes absolutely HORRIBLE. This goodie makes that nasty stuff taste like the finest bottled water you can buy, so maybe it eventually almost pays for itself. Works great, removes 99.9% of almost everything bad. It just COSTS TOO DARN MUCH!!
