DKCR: Amazingly Composed

All too often, old games that are remade don't capture the original spirit, life, and fun of the first one. Donkey Kong County Returns, however, does all that and more. The levels, gameplay, and music are all fantastically done. Any fan of the original DKC games will love this. No DK experience is needed though - it is fun for all who pick it up.

DKC:R is a great throwback to the N64 games of the same name

<p>Doney Kong Country: Returns is possibly the best Wii game released in 2010, easily competing with the likes of Super Mario Galaxy 2. DKC:R is modeled after the Donkey Kong Country games from way back in the mid 1990s on the SNES.</p> <p>The game is not one for those easily frustrated, however, as DKC:R does have its rough spots. Some levels can be quite difficult and can take many tries before you master them. Much like many other Nintendo platformers, there are certain items to collect while playing through each level. In DKC:R these include puzzle pieces as well as the letters that spell out KONG.</p> <p>DKC:R has a few flaws though. If playing in co-op mode, a death by both players results in 2 lost lives instead of 1 (like in Kirby's Return to Dreamland), and there are not different numbers of lives for each player (like in New Super Mario Bros. Wii). This can be frustrating if you are playing with someone that is prone to death, especially if you are trying to save up lives for more difficult levels. Also, especially in sunset levels, seeing what is going on can be problematic, as Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong can sometimes blend in with their surroundings. Finally, the &quot;ground pound&quot; move that can be used involves shaking the Wii Remote, something that feels tacked on at the last minute and reeks of being at the request of higher-ups that wanted motion controls in a game that really did not need them.</p> <p> </p> <p>Overall, Donkey Kong Country Returns is one of the must-have Wii games.</p>

Keeps the wife occupied for hours

<p>This game is a nice blend of 2D simplicity and clever graphics. The player moves are cute, and there's even a little humor in the game. It's a fun game for children and casual gamers.</p>

great fun game!

<p>I received this game as a gift and enjoyed every minute of playing it. It had easy to learn controls and very fun and creative levels. I'm not an avid gamer so towards the end of the game it actually took more lives to beat a few levels than I'd like to admit, but the game was quite addictive and eventually I was able to finish even all the bonus levels. I don't remember the older versions of this game, but I would definitely recommend the new Donkey Kong Country Returns game to anyone, at any age.</p>
