Incomplete Unit, Bad Help / Service from Sears

I bought this Treadmill early November. I had it delivered end of November. I assembled it right away and had issues with the alignment of the front and back plastic piece, as well the handles were different heights. I contacted Sears about the bad unit. I was told to contact the manufacturer, which I did. After a few E-Mails with pictures back and forth, they were going to send me replacement parts, and once I receive those, to let them know so they can send a technician in to assemble the replacement parts. 2 Parts were back ordered and didnt arrive until mid January!! I contacted them and set up an appointment for the technician to come out...that was end of January. Technician installed the replacement parts and they STILL did not align. After inquiring with the technician, his exact words were " These are made in China and this is as good as it gets". Honestly, I am not a picky person, but this machine looks like an unfinished product. I contacted the manufacturer again and after the first week did not get a reply, inquired again and was offered replacement parts again and to send out a technician. I thought about it for a couple of days and decided the treadmill has to be returned. This thing is brand new and its already causing all kinds of headaches. I contacted Sears and they said that my 90 day return period ended. I missed it by exactly 12 days....that's the thanks I get for trying to resolve the issue with the manufacturer first, before attempting to return it. This treadmill would be acceptable for about $1000, but definetely not the $2000 price tag it has. But whats worse for me, is the help and support I got from Sears...not gonna do that mistake again.

Stay away

My incline trainer did not work correctly out of the box when it was assembled in November 2013. After several service calls and three different service companies it is still not working right. I have sent hours on the phone with ICON trying to get service the current call has gone over 49 minutes on 3/31/2014

So far I'm very pleased!

|

So, I just received this Treadmill through NordicTrack this weekend. It was delivered in a crate into my attached front garage. The base was pretty heavy, but me and a friend managed to move it downstairs without too much problem. (we are both pretty strong guys). The assembly of the machine in my opinion was very easy and straightforward. I did this with my 90lb girlfriend within 1.5 hours.

Start up was fast, I was using the machine within 10 mins of power-up. I downloaded the firmware updates as recommend, it didn't take too long.

About the treadmill:

Firstly, the thing is very sturdy. I have seen home equipment before that seemed cheap and flimsy, this is not the case with the X9i.

The tablet is very user friendly and responsive. Again, I was walking uphill watching youtube and searching the net within 10mins of startup. The workout programs and google map workouts are really great! I have some work to do though because I could barely finish a beginner program without cheating. I haven't subscribed to iFit yet but I don't really think it is necessary. There are 2 maps included, if I want more selection later maybe I will pay the $100.

I am a pretty heavy guy at 250lbs and when running on the machine it absorbs the shock very well and produces little noise. So, it functions very well as a regular treadmill with the advantage of a 40deg to -6deg range.

Before getting the machine I was concerned about hitting my head on the ceilings. My ceilings in my basement are just under 8ft and I am 6ft tall. I do not have any problem using the machine. Even at 40deg incline and walking closer to the console end I have 4-5 inches of clearance. If I were about 6ft 5inches; however, it would be an issue. I would say it adds about 1.5ft to 1.7ft to your head height using the machine normally at high incline.

Overall, I couldn't be more impressed or pleased with the purchase, I look forward to using this machine and losing some weight, because, this thing makes you sweat big time!

Product breaks often, not built for everyday use

|

The 1st machine the spring broke, so they sent me a new machine. I am now on my 2nd machine and have owned this machine for 5 months. I have called for service every month and a half. Motor has needed to be replaced, the screen was replaced, a wire had to be replaced, belt issues, screen not recognzing commands, etc. If you dare buy this machine buy the extended warranty. All of our past treadmils have been from Nordictrack and now we will never purchase one again.

Bad investment :(

|

I purchased this incline trainer 18 months ago & I have constantly been waiting for parts or repair. I have had many service calls, the speed is not accurate, it speeds and slows on its own, the belt stops but the computer keeps going (counting and adding time & miles as if I was still going) and it slowly but continually declines when you have it set on an incline. The computer freezes and locks up the whole machine every time it tries to update. I see many other reviews similar to mine & many great ones. So it appears you have a 50/50 shot of getting a decent one! The programs and functions are great and an amazing workout but they don't do you any good when none of them work!

Be aware the wireless is 802.11b only (for now)!

|

I've been looking at this trainer for a few weeks now and found that the wireless module is 802.11b (according to a support call to ifit). They are planning a firmware update that will bring it up to n speeds by the end of 2013, but for now, you are stuck at b. FYI, if you have a 802.11g network and connect any 802.11b device (such as this) to the wireless network, the 802.11g network that can normally run at up to 54 Mbps will throttle down to 802.11b speed - a maximum of 11 Mbps. When this device is connected to your wireless network, it will throttle every person running g on the network down to 11 Mbps maximum!

This is not a problem is you are running 802.11n. It only affects 802.11g networks and users.

It Has Plenty of Features

|

This product is loaded with features and things it can do. Still learning how to use all the features. Still learning how to use the tablet for more then just a nordictrack and ifit window. Have not figure out how to watch the news while working out or read my facebook page or how to search for a website that is not on the link page.

A Mammoth **** Kicker

|

What a machine? This "Beast" is the cornerstone for our health equipment. It was delivered promptly after order and the set-up was actually quite painless since Nordictrack provided the greatest part of the tools needed (with quality tools if I may add)! The assembly instructions could use some fine tuning, but overall very well written.
My wife is a determined person that wants to stay fit and gorgeous for me and I am a multiple heart attack victim (past 12 months). We both fell in love with this machine from the moment it was first turned on. It is full featured and alive with every available built-in-challenge and it is exceptionally comfortable to navigate the menu system..I truly have to hold her back because she would be living on the belt 24/7 since it is that enjoyable.
The time spent on the machine is also encouraging and still physically challenging!

BEWARE!!!

|

If you want to use the iFit features, you will have to shell out another $99 per year per person!!
If there are 2 people, that?s almost $200 a year just to use something you already own!! In addition to that, not all workouts are free. They charge you a hefty fee to download certain workouts. This is a money making machine for ICON (Who owns Nordic Track and many other brands)

Unless you have a lot of money to burn, don?t get suckered in like we did?..

The treadmill itself is average?there are certainly better ones out there for the money. All the whiz bang features will cost you?LOTS

Don't understand the negative reviews

|

I purchased this machine about a month ago from a Sears store. It was delivered and set up by an outside contractor (contract with Sears). The machine has been almost flawless. The only issue I have is with the grab rail heart monitor. That part is not so great, but neither are 90% of the monitors on all gym equipment (whether home or professional). The monitor is simply not so accurate. At any rate the machine gets my vote as it has been trouble free and a fairly complete package for the money. The internet access is a big plus if you can concentrate on it while on an incline. Which is not so easy to do. Everything else on this machine works fine.

I Love My New Machine

|

My husband and I are truly enjoying this machine. I actually look forward to exercising again. I enjoy the setting of "goals" and try to beat the time it says with my incline and speed. If you are looking for a machine to take you to the next level this is it.
