The moment I received it was the moment I fell in love with it.

It was easy to setup. Light and looked very good. first comment from family members was I like your container.

Lid however allowed mosquitoes in and was slightlw warped. Solution was to use mosquito netting and attach it to the underside of the cover. Works perfect now.

Nice Surface Look, But Poor Design for a Rain Barrel

This Rain Barrel looks nice, but has issues with its design.1) The overflow port is smaller than most downspouts that will fill it, therefore you will have water overflowing out of the top of the barrel when full. This water around your house will eventually cause foundation issues over time if the drainage around the barrel is not addressed.2) The rain barrel must be on a concrete pad or on a secure foundation as the "X" feet brace is not suitable for uneven terrain (or just dirt), especially if you have frequent overflows from point 1) from above.3) A lot of the water stored CANNOT be removed as it sits in the bowl below the spigot! It may hold 55 gallons but you can't drain out a lot of the water below the spigot line easily. Don't think that you can simply tilt the barrel over to empty it easily.

my new rain barrel....just in time

I have had my new rain barrel only one week.....Just in time for all the rain in the last week. It is already half full. The sandstone look is quite attractive, its lightweight and certainly adds to thelandscape look of the yard, and better still I feel I am being a little greener because of this. A great product and I am very happy with my purchase.

55 gal Kyoto Sandstone Rain Barrel can take the heat.

I'm very happy with this rain barrel overall. It's attractive, sturdy and my plants love the rain water it provides. I live in Arizona and was concerned about how well it would stand up to the heat and sunlight. No fading, cracking or leaking after two years. It was easy to set up- perfect if you don't have a downspout because the screen provides a large surface and the water pours in. I also had mosquitoes breeding in my rain barrel so now I add "dunks" biological mosquito control if I don't completely drain the barrel in a couple of days. It doesn't harm my plants and kills the larvae. I tried netting but it interfered with filling the barrel. We have thunderstorms in the summer and you have to catch as much as you can very quickly. I fill watering cans under the spigot or attach a hose to water nearby plants. The design of the base is clever. This barrel isn't going to tip over even on a surface that is not level. I did not have to prepare the site, just place it under the V in the roof. There are only a few limitations with this barrel. Once the water level drops below the spigot you have to turn it over or open the drain to empty. You can't easily scoop out water because of the reinforcements to support the screen. 55 gallons fills up quickly and is used quickly. Next time I'll probably get a larger size. Overall a good product and a great starter barrel.
