I bought a genie at a yard sale for disposing of personal waste (I'm 56). When the original Genie died, I bought the new Elite. Ladies, don't throw the Genie away when your babies have grown. Your Mom may love it for panty liners!
I had the diaper genie elite II for 5 years until the lid gave up. I bought this new genie complete for my 3rd child thought that it is better. Everytime we open the lid the whole room stinks. I had to place air freshener beside it so we can spray everytime we open it. The carbon doesnt work. The front lid that opens up everytime you empty the bag doesn't latch properly. I had to replace mine at the store thought that its broke but it is originally made like that. I wish I didn't trash the box so I can just return it. My husband is getting sick of it and want to just buy the old elite.
I heard bad things about diaper genies before I got mine but my husband insisted on getting one. My little ones room smells terrible because of it. I use the odor filters to absorb the smell and they did not help either. I even added an additional one in the bottom of mine praying it would help but it did nothing. I have to only put wet diapers in it to limit the smell in her room.
We saw the Diaper Genie while I was still pregnant, but thought it was pricey and decided to get a cheap trash can with a lid instead.
After my twins were born, the trash can would quickly fill up with their dirty diapers and the odor was worse than I expected. We couldn't stand it anymore and bought the Diaper Genie Elite.
I can't say how happy I am with it! No more odor and easy to use. It looks better than a trash can too.
The only thing I don't like is when I get down to the end of the refill, I end up wasting some because the rest of the bag won't stay in the cartridge and drops into the pail.
Other than that I love it!
I purchased this yesterday and took it out today yo set up. I've had the playtex diaper genie about 6 years ago for my son and loved it. I got this one and noticed it was a little different but figured it was just as good. I saw its the "new" and "easiest system". But its not! Yes it was easy to put together but the pieces you have to put together do not come together very tight so it leaves pretty good size gaps. Although it still works like this, it doesn't help to keep the diaper odor inside. I'm returning it tomorrow!.
We placed this item on our baby registry, it was highly recommended by so many people. Our little princess was born in November 2015. The top and the inside jam all the time and don't close completely. I love this item, it really helps there is no smell, and we love that. Just a little dissapointed that it has only been 2 months and the top and inside jam and don't close completely.
Bought this thinking that they still twist the bag to lock in odours... Nope. Doesn't twist, doesn't lock in odours, every time you open the thing in unleashes a torrent of stench. Save your money, put your diapers in plastic bags and tie them shut. They used to make a good product - not anymore!
We received one of each diaper genie fas baby gifts. Within 6 weeks my husband replaced the essentials with a second diaper genie elite. The foot petal and larger capacity make this one sooooo much better
Was moderately happy with the diaper genie for the year and a half it lasted.
- Can fit a bunch of diapers. (Less frequent trips to the outside garbage bin.)
- Contains odors effectively.
- Sometimes temperamental opening and depositing diapers depending on how many diapers are already in the bin.
- Refill bags are very pricy compared to a standard garbage bag.
What broke on both of my Genies:
On both of my diaper genies, a plastic piece inside broke off not allowing one of the sides of the inner lid to open. This is a big let-down since my children are still in diapers and we now have a 3-week old. This leaves me questioning if I should just buy a trash bin with a lid instead and avoid the aggravation of breaking another diaper bin in addition to paying a lot of money for refills.
I would gladly accept a free bin to change my review and try a replacement.
spend little extra money and get a square one from a different company . This broke on me several times and doesn't hold as many diapers as said to !
Always a cloth diaper user, I had only used traditional diaper pails. Now with all the grandbabies and the convenience of disposable diapers I was excited to try a new thing. Diaper Genie Elite with its odor neutralizing charcoal filter is the easiest and most effective way to take care of the stinky diaper smell in your baby’s room. The convenient hands-free foot pedal opens the lid and you just toss in the diaper. There is no need to push the diaper in making disposal very easy. Changing the bag is simple and the odor exposure is minimal. Open the lid and using the built in cutter to cut the bag, tying it off and creating a new bag is a simple. I would recommend this for any new parent and as a great baby shower gift.
I received this as a gift.. I would NEVER purchase this on my own. I used it long enough to use up the sample bags that came with it and I haven't used it since. It smells so bad with nothing in it and it's cheap flimsy plastic. Not worth the money.
got this new as a gift and right out of the box, door and wings open but left wing will not close. It appears that the top may be misshapen as it does not quite line up with the flanges on its base and that this shape issue creates so much friction on the wing that the springs are not strong enough to close it. Plastic molded parts with poor quality control often have shape issues. It stands to reason that if basic shape issues (which should be easily identified during assembly) are not being caught, then there are likely several other types of quality issues that are making it through to the customer. If you intend to buy this product, make the store or shop open it and put it together to insure everything fits and is working properly before you take it home and keep your receipts.
I was nervous about purchasing a diaper genie since I had received mixed reviews about them, but I absolutely love mine! I only have to change it ever few days and I never smell the dirty diapers that I put in it. I even purchased a second one to keep at my in-laws house for when we visit them!
We're on our 3rd elite in 6 years. There arent many choices out there with a pedal. Thankfully? we've received 2 as shower gifts. Dont buy this one if you're looking for longevity beyond 6 months. Plastic peg breaks off of right flap on all of these and there are no replacement parts that i have ever found.
Definitely something to have if you kids in diapers. Keeps all odors in the genie.
Their children, even if there is peculiar smell of waste, it is only a waste; This machine is the function of the storage of waste, not recycle diapers again using function, develop the products can only meet mother's curiosity for the first time, the second time, I guess no one will like this product!
My wife and I had triplets almost 2 months ago and this has been a life saver. I can't amagin the 18+ diapers a day in a normal trash can.
I've had a diaper genie for a few years now. I originally had the misconception that I didn't need one and would just run the dirty diaper outside for every poo. That idea went to poo in a very short time. I bought a pail and have been using it since! I only use it for the #2 diapers because I now have a second child and both are still in diapers. You can't even notice that there's dirty diaper in the room because there's no odor until you open it to dump.
