Electronics signing a problem with the refrig
by Manage My Life
July 29th, 2013
Bill W
Hi,

Thanks for contacting

ManageMyLife

. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your appliance.

he Er IF error code indicates that the main control board detects that the ice compartment cooling fan is not working. This will cause a lack of cooling in the ice compartment and will normally result in no ice production. This is something that a service technician will usually need to correct. If you are advanced in technical skills, you may be able to correct this problem yourself. It will require the removal of the inside back panel of the freezer compartment. This is not an easy task. I recommend that you review the procedure for this task that is shown in the image below. Make sure that you are able to safely perform the tasks described before proceeding with this repair.

Unplug the refrigerator

to disconnect electrical power before accessing internal components. Once you access the ice fan, you may find excessive frost in this area and on the evaporator that could be causing your cooling problem and fan problem. If you defrost this area, you may find that you do not need to replace parts. If you find no excessive frost or the Er IF error code resumes after removing any frost then you will likely need to replace the ice fan (part 5209JA1044A). You can order this part from the

Sears PartsDirect

website.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website:

Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. We are always here to help.

Thank you

Bill

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your symptom and details the Thermo Disc tripped breaking the line one (L1) circuit to the low voltage transformer which is used to power up the oven control/display. Once the TOD has been replaced the oven door will likely unlock. I added an image below will the information needed to access and test the TOD and the cooling fan motor.

NOTE: Disconnect the range from the power source before removing the rear panel.

When this happens the range will likely need have the thermostat kit #8191178 installed. The part/kit can be ordered from

Sears PartsDirect

Hello Larry,

I would like to assist you with your question. When you refer to the electronics, are you referring to the digital display at the front of the arm? Parts are going to be difficult to come by, and I am unable to find a wiring diagram. Click the following link:

Owner's manual

for a downloadable copy.

Please reply with the exact part that had the wires cut and I will be happy to assist you.

In the "projects" section, how do I add a project or get project ideas?
by Manage My Life
December 3rd, 2010
Korinna Sierra
At this time, the adding a project feature is no longer available on our site. For project idea you can browse through the current projects in the Ideas & know how section, or you can submit another question to us, with the project you are thinking about and we'd be happy to provide you with some insight.
