From what you are describing it sounds like the agitator is stripped out. Usually this will happen to the auger section of this type agitator only. (This is the upper section of the agitator that pushes or pulls the clothes down into the main part of the agitator.) This motion is what causes the clothes to circulate through the water.

If this is the problem, the complete agitator will have to be replaced along with the cap.

The cap has an o-ring that prevents water from getting down inside the agitator gears. If this is not the problem please resubmit your question with more specific details.

Remove the fabric softener #66, cap #67 & screw #56 so you can pull out the agitator. Use a putty knife to release the clips so you can raise the top up & remove the front panel. Please see the images provided for details.

Good morning.... I can fully understand your confusion, after replacing the agitator, the unit still not agitating. Being that you have replaced the agitator, I wonder if you've been able to see the condition of the dogs... I found a link that is not of your model number but may well be very similar mechanically. Keep in mind that an expert will review your situation and give you a much more detailed answer within the next two business days if not much sooner. I hope this helps and have a nice week end.

Thank you for choosing ManageMyLife.com. I understand how frustrating it can be when only half your agitator is working. The top half of the agitator is controled by agitator dogs. If it is not functioning correctly, your dogs are worn. I have included instructions on the images below on how to disassemble your agitator for dog replacement.

SAFETY NOTICE: Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before performing any repairs. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks that might be recommended, please contact your local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website:

If you have further questions please let me know. Thanks for using ManageMyLife.com.

When the washer develops problems it is nice to have a place to go for advice. This site is like always having a tech on speed dial. It would help the expert provide a better answer if you can add the washer model number to this thread. If you do decide to let a technician diagnose and make repairs, an option is the Sears Home Services link below. I also attached a video that may help.
