hard shifting

On top of the transmission there is a little triangle shaped cover. Under that cover there will be a little spring and ball down in a hole. Carefully remove the cover, so the spring does not come flying out and disappear, and use a magnet to remove the ball. Then spray some penetrating oil down into the hole and then work the shifter. Clean the spring and ball up and place them back down in the hole and then pack a little bit of grease down in the hole and put the cover back.

Work the shifter back and forth several times and see if anything improves. It may take some time for it to get better. But do know that I've had some that got bad and ended up having to be opened up and reworked before they would get better.

Wow, it sounds like you basically rebuilt your mower and it still doesn't work. At this point, I would strongly recommend waiting for an expert to get more information on what you can do. If you would like to schedule an appointment please click on the link below.

Die Hard Battery Charger
by Manage My Life
December 9th, 2011

Thank you for your question on the yellow light flashing on the battery charger maintainer.

The flashing yellow light indicates that there is a problem with the battery.

Leave the charger on the battery for 8 to 10 hrs.

If the light then turns green then the charger was able to repair the battery internally.

If it still is flashing yellow then you will need to take the battery to be checked and analyzed.

I hope this will help.

Thank you for your question.

I can understand your concern with the formation of a solid chunk.

I will need a little more information about your softener.

First how old is your softener.

Have you ever had the resin bed replaced?

Have you ever cleaned the salt storage area?

There is a binding in the salt pellets that over time will build up and solidify.

The black stuff you referred to may be manganese. If you open the back water closet on your toilet and see any black build up that is manganese which is a naturally occurring in water in many areas.

I one thing that may help is to remove all the salt and thoroughly clean the inside of the salt and brine well area with a light solution of bleach water. You will not be able to get to the resin bed in the internal tank.

If you will please reply with the model number of the softener which is under the lid and with a little more information I will be happy to help you further.

lawnmower hard to start

Many thanks Mark for your suggestions. I've just done all that you've recommended, and it does seem to start better, not great, but better. I'll be able to tell more when I do the yard again next week. I do have a question though ... do you find it necessary to still prime the engine even if its warm or hot. I keep thinking that if I do it just floods. The starting directions say to pump the bulb 3 times, but that doesn't seem nearly enough on a cold engine. Another question, in the past when trouble shooting small engines, I've been able to start them and keep them running using starter fluid. Not so with this particular engine, it doesn't seem to help at all. I'm wondering if there is a connection between the two.

Thanks again for your help.

Thank you for your question.

I can understand wanting to know the rating of the diodes for replacement.

I do not know if this unit has 2 or 4 diodes.

If it has 2 they are 90amps each and if it has 4 they are 50amps each.

I hope this information will help.

Hello SamaExpert,,,,Now, THAT is exactly the info I was looking for ,,,!!! I am kinda disappointed that the "techs" at searspartsdirect had no idea what the ratings were foir the diodes. I had some 85 amp ones and was pretty sure they would work but just wanted to be OK and not hurt thre other componants. The Charger works like a new one,,!!! Thanks for your help. Joe r

I have to think that the spring is causing the problem here. Get another spring (pt 692135) and hopefully that will alleviate all of this.
