How to change a water filter in a refrigerator?
by Manage My Life

The release mechanism for the filter is jammed up causing this problem. This is not something that there is an easy remedy for. I really have to recommend you have a technician come out to tend to this problem. The tech will more than likely have to disassemble a lot to access the mechanism. The mechanism itself will most likely have to be replaced but we can't know that until we have it accessed. It could be as simple as a spring popped out of place or it could be that the backing part that the spring rides against has broken.

You can go here:

to arrange for a technician to come make the necessary repair.

I'm sorry you're experiencing problems with your water and ice. The owner' s manual may show a filter due to manuals being generic and will fit a few similar models.

If your ice and water taste funny or bad you may want to check if you have the plastic hoses in back instead of the copper tubing. Over time the plastic tubing will cause a bad taste in both the water and ice if it's not changed or replaced with copper tubing.

Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife.com. I understand your concern with your water filter. Your model refrigerator 10657075790 does not have a water filter. As Henry described above, it would usually be in the kick plate area or in the top of the refrigerator section. I do hope this helps.

Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance.

How do I change the water filter on a Kenmore refrigerator model 106.50562990?

The water filter for your refrigerator is located underneath the freezer door. It sits in a hole in the toe plate or lower grill of the refrigerator. There is a plastic cover that you turn counter clockwise 1/4 turn and it comes off. Now you can see the filter and it has two handles for you to grasp.

Rotate the filter counter clockwise also a 1/4 turn and it will come out. You don't have to turn the water off to the refrigerator, there is a valve in the filter housing that bypasses the water when the filter is removed.

Thank you for your question.

I should be able to help you replace the filter in your refrigerator. I have provided you with an image below. The image has the instructions for replacing the water filter in the refrigerator. If the end cap has come off the filter, you can use a pair of pliers to turn the filter to remove it. You can pull the grill off and try to slide the end cap back on the filter to turn it. Once the filter is out the grill has to installed before the filter is put in. if the filter in first the grill might not go back on.

I hope this is helpful.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Change water filter in refrigerator

Hi,

Thank you for your question. It is concerning when the refrigerator is not functioning correctly.

Installing a new filter is completed by pressing the eject button on the left hand side of the filter and pulling the filter straight out. Some water will seep out on the floor so be ready for that to happen. Remove the cap off the old filter and install it on the new filter and push the filter into the housing until the ejector locks in.

See the pictures

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance please include more details in a reply to this entry below.

HOW DO I CHANGE THE WATER FILTER ON A KENMORE REFRIGERATOR, MODEL 106.32400? WHAT FILTER DOES TAKE?
by Manage My Life
June 14th, 2009
Manage My Life
In reference to your Kenmore Refrigerator, MODEL # 106.32400

How to Change the Water Filter on a Kenmore (Source 106)Refrigerator :

As the water filter becomes plugged with the particles it is removing from the water. The water flow rate will gradually decrease causing the ice to decrease in size and the flow rate for the water dispenser will slow down. At this time the filter will need to be replaced. The filter should be changed when the filter status light/indicator alerts a filter change is needed. Consult the Use & Care Guide for instructions on and location of your particular filter status light/indicator.If a filter status light/indicator is not present, the filter should be changed as recommended in the Use & Care Guide. Typically the recommended duration of a filter is 6 months, depending on your usage and water quality. If the water flow to the dispenser or ice maker decreases noticeably before 6 months have passed, you may need to replace the water filter cartridge more often.

Type 1, 90 degree twist style

:

Remove the grille first by pulling it off, and also open the door(s) for easier access. For Style 1 filters, try to remove the filter by turning it 90 degrees counterclockwise.

Type 2, push button

:

For Style 2, push the button to release, and pull the filter out. (Note: If the “Tech” sheet (folded paper) has fallen out of the grille, be sure to replace it.)
