Kenmore Water Softener - IntelliSoft 370 Series

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the water softener. It is strange that the unit still drains when it is in service mode. If the display says service and the gear is in the service position, the problem has to be in the rotor and seal kit. For some reason the water is leaking past the seals and rotor. Once you have it apart inspect the spring on the top of the rotor. It should be one piece and push down on the rotor. If the spring looks ok I recommend replacing the seal kit and rotor. The parts can be ordered from the following link.

Why did my Kenmore 370 Series water softener fill the salt tank and flood the basement?
by Manage My Life

If you installed the water softener yourself, I recommend examining the entire installation to make sure that the water softener meets the installation guidelines. Make sure that the drain lines are properly installed with the appropriate air gaps.

Check the control to make sure that it is set properly.

The brine float valve will normally prevent the brine tank from overfilling in a regeneration cycle. Make sure that this float valve is not stuck.

Page 36 of your owner's manual shows how to place the water softener in the manual diagnostic test. You can use this test to check the position of the valve. If the valve is not operating properly, you may need to have the water softener serviced by a technician under the warranty.

You can also get help with this water softener problem from the Kenmore Water Line by calling 1-800-426-9345. You can speak with a live person on this line that may be able to help you resolve this problem.

If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.

Question about Kenmore Intellisoft 370 Series water softener purchased from Sears in 2007.
by Manage My Life
November 26th, 2012
Mark T
Derek,

It should not matter that it has been sitting for a few months as long as it has not frozen. When you tip the unit over on a block of wood and drain the water, it should drain the water from the salt tank and the resin bed. It will not harm the resin if it is not in water. They are shipped from the factor dry. Just make sure to sanitize the unit when you reconnect it.

I hope this is helpful. If you need further assistance, please reply below with more details.

What does the $199 installation charge for Kenmore 370 Series water softener cover?
by Manage My Life

A Sears installation includes the following services:

Pick up your product and deliver it to you

Unpack your product and prepare it for installation

Inspect it for any damage or defects

Inspect your installation site and provide a quote if any additional work is required

Connect your new product to existing, code-approved utilities per manufacturer instructions

Level and secure your product, and install any manufacturer-supplied safety hardware

Test your product to ensure it performs properly

Give you clear, easy-to-understand instructions on how to operate the product

Clean up and dispose of any job-related debris

If you do not have the plumbing in place for the installation of the water softener, you will likely need to have a plumber arrange the piping according to the guidelines in this owner's manual/installation guide:

Owner's Manual

. The installer may be able to give you an estimate for this work if needed. I do not believe that it will be included in the $199 installation charge.

The installation will have a 1 year warranty.

Kenmore Intelli Soft 370 water softener not working correctly

The water pressure drops could be due to "compacted resin" in the softener. I don't necessarily think that would cause the water level in the tank to be high but anything is possible.

You will need to remove the valve and motor from the top of the resin tank (the center tank). do this very carefully. There is a tube that runs from the top (valve) down. You absolutely DO NOT want that tube to come up any at all when you're doing this.

Once you have the valve assembly removed and the center tank is open with just that tube sticking up: You need to take a broom handle and push it down into the resin several times. Push it until it stops, but don't force it when it does stop. Maybe 8-10 times (at various points, not same place) will suffice to get the resin broke up. Then put everything back in place and run the machine for a few days to see if anything changes.
