Kenmore: LPG Grill: model 415.16106210 cannot install side burner ... appears to be too short to fit properly beneath the opening

Thank you for you question on the side burner installation on the BBQ grill.

I believe that the burner head is already installed in the side burner housing. You loosen the screws on the main burner box and hook the side burner box onto the screws and then tighten the screws to secure the side burner box.

Then you will need to install the side burner gas valve and nose in the gas valve orifice spud into the end of the burner tube. It only goes into the burner tube about a 1/4 of inch, and then you secure the side burner gas valve to the front panel with the screws provided in the valve.

Are you saying that the orifice spud does not reach the burner tube?

Please reply with a little more detail if this does not answer you question.

How to adjust side burner flame on Kenmore grill?
by Manage My Life
April 22nd, 2008
Manage My Life
The same tank and regulator supply the side and main burners on that model so they should be okay but too much air added to the propane can cause excess flame also, so check that the burner is in place properly and if you can adjust the air shutters smaller, or turn the grill so they out of any incoming wind, it will reduce the flame height to a more controllable level.

Also be sure to set the valve on the tank at ¼ to ½ turn open only and purge the system of air in the lines.

If no issues or improvements are noted at that point you might need a new burner or gas valve for your side burner.

Side burner replacement 14816136110 Kenmore Gas grill

Thank you for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.

This specific model does not have any other side burner options besides what it originally came with. Some models will have kits to have options on the side burners such as griddles or coils, ect. but this model just has the one option.

Sears doesn't recommend altering the grill beyond what the manufacturer offers for the model, but I think it would be feasible to fabricate another set-up in if you are handy enough and locate something that will work. However, the manufactuer doesn't offer anything for this model as far as additional accessories, so any modification and research thereof would need to be performed by the owner.

Sorry I couldn't give you better news on the side burner or accessory and wish you all the best with the grill. Thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com.

grill side burner question

I understand needing to have further information regarding your grill. The problem you’re having could be caused by a bad burner or by a bad valve. It’s very hard to determine since it’s only happened to the one burner. The easiest way to know for sure will be to take one of the burners that does not have the problem and swap it with the one that does. If you then have the problem on the swapped out burner, you know that it’s the valve. If you do not have the problem on the swapped out burner the burner is at fault. In order to provide part information I will need you to please reply back to with the full model number.

Gs grill side burner

You may be able to push (bend) the electrode more towards the metal to get a better spark. If you look at the tip where the spark emits, push that towards wherever it is that the spark jumps to. It may not take much. In most cases where the other igniters are working fine and one is not it's because the distance is too great and the spark loses some of its "kick" making the jump.

Let me know what this looks like and we can check into it further if we need to.

Why is the side burner not lighting on my new Kenmore gas grill?
by Manage My Life

Without a model number provided we do not have access to any reference material on your Kenmore gas grill.

You can check to make sure that the igniter wire & electrode are properly connected & the gas line is clear to the side burner.

Please resubmit with a model number for further assistance.

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the grill wiring. The side burner has a few wires. The first is the ground. That wire has a wider connector and a narrow connector. The wide connector goes to the wide terminal on the igniter. The narrow connector plugs onto the burner valve. Then you should have one single wire. This wire connects to the igniter on one end and to the burner electrode on the other. Once connected like this the unit should work. I also posted an image below that has the instructions. Just click on the image to enlarge it.

I hope this is helpful.
