Why is my Whirlpool Duet washer flashing an F11 error code?

I own a Whirlpool Duet front-loading automatic washing machine purchased on 11/27/04. Model number GHW9460PW0. For the last 2 weeks I have been getting the F11 error code. I have been able to pause it and if I hit pause a couple more times & then hit start, I am able to finish the load. Yesterday, I was able to do 3 loads with no problems and then the 4th load; it gave me the F11 code 5 times. The 5th load gave the F11 code once and later that day, the 6th load ran without any errors. Today, I did one load with no errors. What does the F11 error code indicate? Is it a particular part that needs to be replaced or could it be a possible solder loosening? What part would you recommend me to check? Thanks!

The F11 error code is a communication failure between the 2 control boards. This includes both boards & the wiring harness as potential defective components. However, this is usually the main machine control board that needs replaced.
