Why won't the ice maker drop the ice?

Model 253.54663409 Kenmore fridge and the ice maker won't drop ice into the bucket. The ice maker appears to be making ice, however, it isn't dropping it down and making additional ice. I can see there are cubes in the icemaker mold and I tried pushing the on button down for 15 seconds to advance it, however, that did not work. Please advise.

The icemaker in this refrigerator usually does not have a button to press, that will advance it. Usually the way to advance this icemaker, is by turning the small gear located in front of the icemaker behind the cover. If there is a button to push on your icemaker, I suspect the wrong icemaker has been installed.

Normally to advance the icemaker remove the front cover of the icemaker and turn the small gear counterclockwise to advance it. If the icemaker does not start then it will need to be replaced. If it does start, watch it through the complete cycle and if it cycles all the way and fills, the thermostat in the ice maker will need to be replaced or the complete icemaker can be replaced. If you need more assistance, you can resubmit your question with more details.
