How do you wire a heating element in a Kenmore model 110.86983110 electric dryer?

There are 6 wires and 2 of them are main wires (hot) and two jumper wires one on each hot wire. One wire is red and the other is black. They are not attached to the hot wires they just slide up and down them for adjustment purposes. These wires are very short and are like jumper wires.

I am not aware of any jumper wires at the element. The image below contains the wiring diagram for a similar model dryer.

You might need to submit another question with some additional details or even a picture of the sliding wires for further assistance.

Was the previous element pulled out and the wires left hanging? Some replacement elements came with a terminal wire kit to repair a broken heater wire harness.

I hope this information is helpful but for further assistance submit another question with more details or a picture of the wires at the element you're asking about.
