Does the main drive motor switch need to be replaced on washer if washer works without it?

Model 110 92284800 Kenmore washer would not do anything but add water. I traced the problem to the motor switch and bypassed the switch and now the washer will work. Is it necessary to replace the switch.

You don't include any details about which wires at the motor switch you bypassed.

The orange wire is for the low speed winding, the blue wire is for the high speed winding and the red wire is for the start winding.

Depending on which you jumped the washer may work but if you try to run the other speed then the motor will try and run two speeds at once. This will cause the motor to over heat and shut down.

The washer may work but I still would recommend replacing the motor switch 8529896 to eliminate any possibility of damaging the motor. The motor switch 8529896 cost approximately $65 dollars but the motor cost approximately $156 dollars. It would be better to spend $65 now than $156 dollars later.

I hope this information helps with this problem but submit another question with any additional details for further assistance.
