Why does my Kenmore gas oven have a strong gas odor when the oven is turned on initially?

I have a Kenmore gas range model number 362.75575691. The gas odor dissipates after 15 minutes but the odor is getting stronger and the oven is taking longer to heat up.

On something like this I suspect a weak bake igniter. The oven igniter has to draw at least 2.5 amps in order to trigger the gas valve. You can check it with a meter to confirm the readings or I recommend replacing the bake igniter #28, part number WB13K21.
