Why does my dishwasher use too much rinse aid?

Just thought I'd try using rinse aid in the available dispenser. I have a Kenmore ultra wash quiet guard standard stainless steel dishwasher. I'm washing dishes right now, so I don't want to stop it to give you the model #. The manual says it should last from a month to 3 months. I've almost used up the whole bottle in less than a month. I quit using it, but that seems odd. I did turn the knob to the lowest setting, since we have well water with a water softener. Please advise.

Why does my dishwasher use too much rinse aid?

Without a model number I am unable to gain access to any specific information regarding your appliance.

The amount of rinse aid released in the final rinse can be adjusted in most dishwashers.

Here is some basic directions on how to adjust the setting:

Remove the dispenser knob

Turn the arrow adjuster inside then dispenser to the desired setting by either using your fingers or inserting a flat-blade screwdriver into the center of the arrow and turning.

Replace the dispenser knob

Check the rinse aid cap. If the o-ring on the cap is damaged or not sealing properly, you may need to replace the cap.

If the cap is okay and you are not able to adjust or reduce the amount of rinse aid dispensed, you will likely need to replace the dispenser assembly.
