How do I fix my Maytag Neptune model MAH8700AWW that won't drain or spin?.

I have a Maytag Neptune model MAH8700AWW washer and lately during spin it gets loud. I know it's off balance but I cant get it stable. When I would put pressure on the top right side, it stopped banging. Otherwise we've just put up with it. It sits on a hardwood floor and is on the main floor with a basement underneath. Today it would not drain or spin. The pump make noise for several seconds, stops and starts doing it again but it doesn't drain and I was wondering about what your suggestion would be.

From the description you give the first thing to do is check and repair/replace the drain pump.

If the washer doesn't drain properly then it will not be able to spin properly.

You can access the drain pump by removing the rear access panel. The image below will help with this. Remember to unplug the washer first.

If the pump is making noise most likely it is getting voltage. It may be blocked with something or may just need to be replaced.

I hope this information is helpful to you in resolving this problem but submit another question with any additional details for further assistance.

We had a similar ptoblem with our Neptune. The repair person had to replace the "mother" board which is located behind the control panel. One of the resistors was burnt which controlled the logic for the unit to spin.If you can remove the board and look for a brown spot which indicates the burnt resistor.I hope this helps.
