Why wont the cold water shut off on my Kenmore washing machine even when power is turned off?

It is a Kenmore model 11026632500 washer and the cold water does not shut off when filling and overflows. It will not shut off when power is disconnected and the overflow floods the room.

From the description you give the 285805 inlet valve will have to be replaced to correct this problem.

If the washer continues to fill even when unplugged from power then the valve is the problem.

If it was a pressure switch or timer problem it would still stop when the washer was unplugged.

The image below will show you how to access the water valve on this type of washer. Remember to unplug the washer first. This particular washer has two clips on the front corners instead of screws. Use a putty knife to push in and release the console. See the 2nd image for a picture of this.

The valve can be obtained from the following site:

Sears PartsDirect

.

I hope this information is helpful to you in resolving this problem but submit another question with any additional details for further assistance.
