Re: Kenmore range 92022101 - Oven door won't unlock after self-cleaning cycle.

Kenmore Logi-Clean electric range model 92022101. I ran a self clean and the oven got extremely hot and stayed on for 4 hours and 10 minutes. I know that is within the allowed time, but in my opinion, the oven was not that dirty. The surrounding cabinets and things were very, very hot. We kept checking to make sure there was no fire. The door now remains locked and the display reads El F5. The top of the oven door was all white and is now a little off-white like it has been burned. I have had the stove for approximately 6 or 7 years and from the time I got it, the oven has always run hot. We have to turn it 10 or 15 degrees lower than a recipe calls for and remove the food alot earlier than the time limit. I want to know if this is an expensive repair or if I should just bite the dust and purchase a new stove!

I can understand your concern upon the code that is reading on your range, also the lock mechanism. I was able to find what the code means, an expert answered a similar question. I hope what he provides is sufficient to let you know what the next step would be.

As indicated in the link for a previous answer provided by Celene in the above response, the E1 F5 error code indicates that you have a problem with the oven door lock assembly. This could be caused by a bad door lock assembly, a failed electronic control board or a wiring failure in the circuit.

This type of repair can be expensive if the electronic oven control board needs to be replaced. The control board costs around $300. The labor for the repair would be around $150. If the door lock assembly is the failed component, that part only costs about $40. The total repair bill would likely run between $200 and $450.

I hope that this repair information helps. If you decide to repair the range, you can visit the Sears Home Services website to arrange the service. Here is a link for that website in case you need it:
